I've tried firing into the cabin, firing to the rear, and firing straight up. Towards the rear seems to proiduce the best sound quality in my opinion. I have no dynomat either, and my trunk does not rattle. The mechanics for the trunk lock are the rattling culprit. Just remove 'em, and shave the hole.
