The Corvette ZR-1 oil filter is meant to be a superior replacement to the standard Mazda filter as it fits straight on and maintains a higher back pressure which I guess (could be wrong) will keep the hydraulic tappets better flushed. Perhaps resulting in less noise.
I've been doing a little digging trying to locate a UK stockist myself for these since reading this thread.
I got in touch with the Corvette owners club over here and have been given a few places to try if they don't have any then they will help me further.
So far my UK search hasn't born much fruit as the one's I've found dont have a return valve so I doubt will be any use for us.
As far as I can tell the one's that Ian was talking about are the K & N ones (I'm not sure if these have a return valve or not?).
I have been reliably informed that Napa make there own filter which has a return valve and I've read a thread on here that suggests Napa filters are one of the best, better than the K&N (which is made by Bosche). Also I've been reading it's the Napa filter that people are using in the states as it maintains a higher back pressure and has one of the best filter ratio's. These and the K & N ones are available from the Napa website in the states so I guess if anyone wants to get some you could order one from there assuming they will deliver them out to you.... at $6 for the Nappa Gold (11.99 for K&N another reason to buy the Napa one) I dont recon it's not going to hurt much.

When I find a UK stockist (which I think will happen eventually) I will post more info. I've also been in touch with a friend of mine at Ajay Autoparts (Jayjar) and they are looking to see if they can help, or if they have a blueprint version maybe. I'll let you know the outcome.
These are links to some info on and a study on oil filters... guess some of you might find it interesting.
