Assuming you are using a catalytic converter the sound wont be bad at all. I currently am using 2.5" tubing with no muffler from the cat back. It is louder than with a muffler understandably, but hardly obnoxious.
I have autocrossed the car at San Diegos Qualcomm Stadium which has very strict sound limits (93dbA @ 50ft). The car passed with flying colors at WOT
Now..without a cat...youre on your own there
