I just skimmed through this quick, and thought I should add to this, as i've gone through a bunch of exhausts on my car, getting one that I like.
Right now, I have a Hybrid (T-bird), with a full 3" downpipe from the turbo, a 3" cat, and a 3" magnaflow muffler.
I personally liked it better without the magnaflow.
It was not loud (compared to my 5.0L with flowmasters)
Or, even compared to my winter beater mx6 with stock turbo and downpipe, 2.5" crushed exhaust, cat, and polished up ricer boy fat can muffler! (ractive maybe)?
I hated that car, it was load as can be, and, well, quite annoying!
I took the muffler off, swaped it for a chrysler minivan resonator, and it was a bit better.

All that being said, the magnaflow gives it a nice deep tone still, but too quite for what I want..
I think next year I may try a 40 series flowmaster.
