Lightbulb Point of no return

Because i am not a fan of mounting things on the car. I am trying to mount 2 gauges without having them stand out.

So this is my way around it.

I still have some finishing off to do on this gauge. Then i will work on getting the boost gauge into the other corner.

One thing i will do, is paint the outer ring of this gauge black.

I am not sure if i will like the final outcome of this, but worth a shot anyway.

More pics soon...

I can blame you rolli. I had the Feung Shui (spelling) of the car all sorted.

Now i had to find a balanced position for the 2nd gauge.

BTW thanks again and the instructions turned up today.

Cheers

Here is a better Pic...

I managed to get the A/F meter flush. I had to relocate a capacitor and move another component. I will still be painting the outer ring also.

Tomorrow, i will work on the Boost gauge.

Starting to look good!

Cam22t, im not sure what your interior scheme is but what i've done with mine is gone silver/black.

What i was going to suggest is to paint the gauge bezel silver or an aluminium colour and same with the dash. See hows there's an edging surrounding the fuel, speedo, tacho and temp gauge, paint them the same colour. It looks fantastic plus it adds a little sophistication to rather plain boring display.

If your not convinced, i'll post a pic up tomorrow arvo.

Why don't you want to mount the gauges in a dual pod on the A-pillar?

I did have a silver dash surround some time ago (like darkslayers). But now it is standard black again.

I am only after a clean look to the car. If these gauges end up looking crap. I will buy another speedo.

I am keen to see you pics. Post them up.

I also was pondering cutting out an Aluminium facia for the speedo. The only doubt i have is with the glare. Maybe give it a brushed look.

I think it would look better if you had white gauge faces, but it's a great job getting it into the panel like you have. Top job Craig

Crusty, i am in need of white faces, but i have a bit of a problem with the 7000 redline.
I cant be stuffed photoshoping up some at the moment. I am not to keen on sacraficing the tacho i have.

If i was going to make them, i would be rubbing off the factory black ones from the backplate, then sticking the new printed ones over the clear.

I may keep an eye out for another speedo, so that i can keep the 7000 rpm tacho that i have. Just to be on the safe side.

One thing i have to say also. These dont really fit. i am making them fit. There is alot of plastic coming out and i am going to be drilling out the printed circuit board and making links to bridge were i have drilled.

This is the type of thing i do when i get bored and its starting to turn into a project.

I will post a pic of how i cut in the Turbo Timer into the consol, between the handbrake and the drivers seat also.

You could get a set cut out of 2 or 3mm acrylic at a sign writer, then you can keep the originals.

Pull your needles off and hit them with some dayglo orange like the boost gauge.
