thats pretty much why i didn't want to f with mine. Well besides being and LS and Auto. They are stupid fast but it was too nicely built of a car for me to want to really do anything to.

What other lights do you think would work for this retro anyway. I found a few infiniti's, q45 i think, that have 2 projectors per housing. the housing almost looks the same size. If it wasn't more round and stuff i would consider modding it into my car. I still want to try a set of '90-93 accord lights. Not sure what all you have to do but even if its just getting the reflector out and getting the flutted glass clear i'm cool. I still plan on doing what zach is doing but i'm trying to slow down on the six. For one i really need this bitch primered. I started driving it around again today but its a little on the rough side having the paint sanded with no sealer. I know your not supposed to do that but i'm working on bad areas and sanding the whole car. After it get all the paint scratched i'm gonna go over it again real quick to give it a smooth feel. Anyway i'm d'railing the thread. Sick pm me if you have advice on painting. I've never done this and any advice would be appreciated.

Update:

For now, I'm not going to be making the lexan covers. I just have too much crap on my plate right now. So I'll be fitting them with the stock fluted glass. I'll post up pics when they are finally done...should be pretty soon.

Really?

how do you determine the depth of one of the lens's. Do you just cut it out first and then measure teh mount depth of it. Cause so far the ........whatever year 5 series i saw i could tell but the projectors looked deeper than i thought. I want to say its like a late 80's early 90's.

i still think it would be worth a shot of trying to deflute the stock glass. i might try to give that a shot on my broken light in my closet. maybe just pour some resin on top of the flutes and see if it fills them in making them flat? ill experiment around some tonight/tommrow

I think the fluted lens are better than the clear lens. Clear lens don't have the equal light output as the fluted lens imo

Have fun de-fluting...too much of a hassle.

You're correct in the sense that clear lenses don't have equal light output as fluted...clear lenses easily double the output of fluted lenses in all cases, halogen or HID projectors...especially in the projectors.

Some are just better developed and engineered better than others. Example; Ford and other American made cars SUCK in this regards. Others, like Kia, Mazda, Honda and a few others are great clear lensed halogen reflectors. Then you have non-HID projectors (Integra, J30, BMW) which usually suck...then you have HID Projectors from Lexus, BMW and Acura that are THE BEST at producing light. When you take a great pattern like the E46's like I have, the best practice would be to put them behind clear lexan, which is better at light transmission than regular glass. The light output is relatively meh/OK when the stock fluted lenses are put back in place. The light yellow's a little and the cutoff gets muddy...but still 100x better than the stocker halogen

Once I get the parts to seal up the back of the headlight housing, I'll produce a beam shot.

i have a set of these im working with. (at least i know there out of an Infinity?) dual projectors each headlight. i bought them a few days ago at a local yard when i saw them. allready have them disassembled. they are very close in size to our stockers. im hoping to kinda just retrofit the entire set up into our housings.

i seen a set of infinity's at the junk yard out here. i might buy them also seen a set on a daewoo? I might wait to actually get a whole hid from a bmw or something. i didn't ask to see if the had any in stock. i could have pocketed the daewoo low beam projectors. Post some pics and a brief write up if you get the Infinity's done

I agree. With projectors you should use lexan or clear glass. I can't wait to see this. I have easy acess to 2 sets of projectors. The Infinity with 4 projectors " Highs and Lows" and Daewoo 2 projectors " lows"

The BMW E46 single xenon projectors are the largest to fit in our stock 1g housing. If we had just another 1/2" of height, we could fit the TSX projectors in...which would be ideal as they produce the best color and cutoff, or the RX330 AFS projectors, which give off the best foreground light.
