ours dont' have much of an angle. I was about to pull one out before i realized one really gay thing. I have to take the bumper cover off, which isn't hard, only 6 bolts but then its also got that half drop on it too so the bumper is almost touching the ground. Make it quite the pain. I'll mess with it this weekend. I also made a few other light ideas if that one doesn't fit. 92-99 bmw 3 series (iffy, too boxy looking) and the 95-98 745i. It has nice long headlights like our and already has projectors. Me and mazdaman might go through a yard in a few weeks to see what we can mod. I'd rather tear up a pic a part mazda that's on its way to the crusher than screw up mine in the process lol.

Like two kids at a candy store! I hope we find some goodies while we're there!
well since i was sent home today i think i'll go out there and take off the bumper in a few. Its kind of a pain in the ass cause i forgot that i have such little room by the headlights and the battery might have to come out but i'll fudge around with it today though and get a pic.
well i'm going to start looking at the accord like soon cause for one the battery on the 6 is dead and is leaking acid like an SOB and its got two flat tires. So i'm going to just swap my 14's back on. i'll just take the tires off at school and start working on the 929 wheels and make them white
But anyway while i have the mazda working again i'll rip off the headlights from accord and do some sizing. That way i won't have to drive it anywhere and i can take demensions on the lights. Sorry this is taking so long. Too many things in my life.
mostly not enough money, laziness, and the bike lol.
I just checked with HID planet, and the BMW E46 ECE projectors are no longer available from them.
its second hand or ebay from here on in......
84 626 sedan FE SOHC turbo (sleeper) soon to be DOHC
89 626 5 door F2T now with VF34
90 323 sedan B6 SOHC Slug-o-matic DD, sold...too slow
84 626 sedan RF diesel, a slug but at least the fuel economy is good

Yup...that's why I've held onto mine. They are becoming harder and harder to find...kind of like good FE3 parts
I'm going to do this. I've mocked up one projector in the housing held together with jbweld and just the little bit I used to tack it down, it still took a few good blows before it came loose. So fully 'welded' down with jb, should hold up very nicely.
Since my upgrade is basically done, I can focus on these now.

I was just thinking of this the other day on the way back from Mazdaman's house in IL. He popped on his HID's for a moment and i [shizzle] myself. Naturally they seemed to have some wicked glare while i looked at them from an angle standing up but i'm sure with some mx-6 retro's they would look badass. Can't wait to see new updates man.
On the issue of unfluting the glass, I had a somewhat of a wild idea; it might be possible to cast them at home.
I did a small proof of concept:
This isn't a chipped glass or a bit of acrylic or lexan, it's clear polyester resin, cast between two sheets of glass. It picked some surface imperfections (including a few fingerprints, I wasn't careful enough) but what I think it demonstrates is it's possible to cast reasonably good quality transparent parts at home. The original lenses weren't actually Hubble Space Telescope quality either.
What's the trick is there first needs to be molds off the stock lenses with *REALLY* good preparation, smooth off the backside, replace and apply any approval markings needed (making this a bit of a product counterfeit, but I think regulations like these are made solely for the benefit of car manufacturers)
More work than grinding the glass, but easier, and you can repair small mistakes. It's something you cannot do when working on the actual piece. I fact it could be possible to have part really approved if it was affordable.
1988 626 GT Wagon, 2.0 DOHC Turbo | 1992 Toyota Carina e GLi | 1991 626 GLX Hatch AWD 2.2l
Regular consumer usable polyester resing are thermoset, they won't melt. They will soften a bit though.
I don't consider heat a major factor with xenons. The input power of a HID unit is only 35 watts, compared to 45-55W of regular halogen headlights. Not only lower in nominal power, the Xenon is also much more efficient, further reducing the heat stress. Greatest threat is dirt that can heat up by the light and cause damage, but keeping the headlights clean it's not a likely problem. Under ECE regulations it's mandatory to have headlight washers anyway, if xenons are fitted.
