I just got 2nd gen swirlies 16x7 w/ 40mm on 205/55-16 and I had a rub on the drivers side rear, pretty severe rub, tire heated up and was audible plus tire smoke. Pass side rear is tight but no rub? I ran to Advanced 7 minutes before they closed all they had was wheel washers so I'm currently bandaiding it with them. Hoping to find somewhere with spacers tomorrow or else the stock rims are gonna have to go back on.

The reason why they rubbed is because of the tire size. 55's are too big.
Im running 225/50/16's on my Mx-6 with no rubbing in the rear.
40mm offset also.

Anyone want a NICE 1G? :-/

I have some RSX rims on mine with the stock Michelin Pilots. Never looked into the size differences in those though.

Tires and rims confuse me. If I bought 17" rims with an offset of 42mm and a bolt pattern of 5x114.3 would they fit my 175/65r14 low profile tires? and is that the correct numbers on the tires, becuase I wasnt sure...

Youre asking if your OEM 14in tires will fit the 17in wheels?
Hahaha, no not at all! 175/65/14's arent even low pro tires.

You need to buy all 4 new tires for a 17in rim.
The offset is good for the Mx-6. Id suggest some 215/40/17's for tires. I had them on my Mx-6 with the same rim size and offset. Sits perfect.

I have 225/40/18 on my 92 626, it is a tight tight squeeze. I have less than an a inch because of the strut in the rear. Some 225-40-18's won't fit in the rear. Go with 17's if best. 18's arn't worth it.
