Whats up yall,
I got a 90 Mx6 Lx, bought it from the original owner with a little over 100k on it, its a damn nice car, body is mint. However, my old car was a 92 Tsi, which hauled ass. My Mx6 is quite a bit slower compared to my Tsi. However, I stumbled upon the thread talking about the cam regrind from crower, so I plan on doing that to add a few ponies, and rebuilding the head. I was wondering where I could get some good performance valves and springs. And if any one else has done this precedure, if its worth the money.
Thanks,
Shogun
You bought the wrong car if you were looking for speed. Should have kept looking for an MX-6 GT (2.2L Turbo). The LX will be a nice daily driver, but it will never make much more power without major work.
I say enjoy the reliability of the LX. It is a much more reliable car than the DSMs. Forget about making it fast. Get another car for that , but keep the LX as a daily driver.

K, so scrap the cam idea. I have a friend who's got a 91 Probe GT, he blew the motor up, and wants to sell his manifold and turbo. I have heard that the NA engines are actually better with forced induction then the stock turbo engines. Like I said before DSM's are kinda my thing, I dont know a lot about the mazda 2.2 or what kind of punisment they can take. If I do add the turbo, I dont want my car to fall apart on me, I still want a good daily driver. But if the benifits dont out way the cost, then forget about it, I'll buy another Dsm.
if you do the turbo right you should be fine. these engines are quite tough. But the conversion for the LX to GT, can require a lot of parts. Sure you can just bolt it on and go, but if your worried about your engine falling apart then that's not the way to go.
I'm in the process of making an LX-T. I have just about all the parts, and i'm just waiting for a little nicer weather.
Please Note: The above statement is in no way the advice or comment of a professional, just an idiot working on a car in the driveway.

Cheap is ok, Cheap and stupid is just another way to clean up the gene pool.
You're gonna need most of his engine if you want to do it right. You'll need his engine harness, his ECU, his throttle body and intake manifold and some exhaust pieces just to name a few.
I'ts a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake, if the way is hazy
You gotta do the cooking by the book, you know you can't be lazy
why don't you see if you can find a complete car wrecked at the junker or something. that way you would be sure to have all the parts you need and spend less money. i only spent about $150.00 on parts and $300.00 on a 89 mx6 gt wrecked to complete my project.
