steering knuckle/hub assembly interchangeable??>>please read>>

ok my driver side wheel bearing went out and the hub is so wore down that it is shot to. So to the junkyard i go and i find a 90' lx and an 88' lx what i need to know is are the hub assemblies interchangeable. they look exactly the same to me, but i wanted to check with you guys first, then i'll go back tomorrow if everything is cool. If they aren't interchangeable, are there any other cars hubs that will work? i have an 88' atx gt without abs.

Thanks alot

GT and non-GT hubs are different. See the collision repair manual scan at: http://panther37.xtothezracing.com/m...llision/p6.jpg

Also jap-made and US-made knuckles are different, particularly the hole that the outer tie rod goes into.

so are there any hub assemblies that will interchange? if not then what do you guys suggest that i do, go with a brand new hub ($150) and bearing ($50) and have someone press them ($30) or is there another route that i can take. I really don't want to spend the $250 if i don't have to but if that is the only way so be it. Any other suggestions would be helpful! is it better to just buy the whole assembly or do as i suggested?

it may be a little expensive, but it's your safety and drivability of the car that's at hand...get it done. if you can't afford it (which I totally understand), get to work via other means of transportation if they are available, bus, train, etc to save a little change. I had to do that when my tranny broke..lol

i found out the GT hubs were different when i was getting the items to swap the turbo trans into my DX. i went to the junk yard and got 2 of them off of a mx6 GT for 15$ a piece with all the items on it. i have just replaced the bearings.

problem is that where i live (columbus, ohio) mx6 gt's are very hard to come by, i have maybe seen 1 other gt on the road the last two years i have had my car let alone in the junkyards. I have only come across one in the yards around here and i peeled the turbo and headlights off it everything else was trashed. i have seen many non-gt's but the parts i have needed weren't interchangeable. Thanks
