im not the most fimiliar with which cars came turboed from the factory except for the popular ones....so....
i was wondering if you guys could list some vehicles i could get turbos off of that would support over 200hp...
we all know volvos have turbos and so does saab.. and otherws but which years and which turbos are considered upgrades and which are nohing more than equivilant or weaker replacements..
im trying to see if heres any hidden power at some of the local yards..i dont car about bolt on or not lol.. just good turbos :P
I would look for something cheap off a turbo diesel truck. It will be larger so its an upgrade and usually are very cheap and much easier to find compared to car turbos.
I'ts a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake, if the way is hazy

IHI has it correct with diesels keeping the exhaust housing A/R relatively small and the turbines and compressor wheels large. Some of the Hino's make 5** fpt at 1,500 rpm. Sure this is mostly to do with engine size but we don't have much of an rpm range anyways. Just anf FYI that my VX18 has a 70mm compressor wheel and is comparible to a TO4E 60 trim and has an exhaust side the same size as our VJ11. I'll be posting pictures soon of a hybrid that I'm making.
VJ11 exhaust housing, RHB6 turbine, RHC6 center cartridge, RHC6 VX89 compressor wheel, RHC6 VX18 compressor housing. It will be dope and the Gecko will do teh robot.
Yes turbo's can be taken from small diesel trucks or trackter engines but if you do make sure it has an internal wastegate. Most diesels won't have internal wastegates. Or you could use an external wastegate setup with one of these turbo's (more fabrication work though).
For a turbo upgrade look at nissan stuff like skylines, silvias, 180sx (RB20DET's), etc.
I'm sure you know this but make sure you rebuild the turbo or have it checked before fitting it. You don't want to have compressor wheel bits and pieces going through your intake or have a bearing falure in the turbo etc....
goodluck.

so if this is the case. what are some deisal turbos i should keep an eye out for..
My friend had a 48/42 saab t3 on his 240sx KA24E (sohc, 12v, 2.4L) and made 223 whp on 8 psi.
Probably the best bet if you dont want lag. that or a 63/60 off a tbird or z31 (84-86 300zx) steer clear from the 87+ 300zx turbos, those are a t28
Anyone suggesting diesel turbos, not sure what youre talking about. In the 4 years and 10+ junkyards Ive gone to Ive never seen a diesel turbo. not once.

I've seen them in the yards around here. I see some in trucks and some in Benz 300d's, the full size car from the 80's. they have t3's.
Around here all the cars are picked clean but the trucks still have some of theirs. I think people look past the Mercedes TDs thinking maybe they arent the same turbos.

shiet around here, hoards of mexicans practically live at the junkyard, and even sell food and drink from their cars out front!! id bet they sell the parts for a living with the amount of cars they strip down in a day...... my chance of ever getting a turbo of any kind is very slim to none
Actually, yeah Im at yards a lot and thats pretty much how it goes. There is one fat guy that whords all the turbos at pullnsave and sells them on ebay. His ebay id is odagledknarf. we hate that guy, i can picture him snagging those turbos you want and chanting o'doyol rules.
where did you find turbo diesel trucks? just curious, theres a route of about 8 yards i frequent and have been doing so for years, and like i said, nothing

Check on eBay, they're bought and sold all the time. Ever bother to check a JY that deals specifically with large diesels? Do they not have them in Co? We have plenty in Ca.
i bought a turbo off ebay seller named "superturbosales" dont know if hes got any sales now tho. its a KKK-K26 off of a mercedes 300d just had a blown oil seal on the compressor side. i need to order a rebuild kit from europe tho cause cant find one in the states. it'll only cost bout $100 w shipping. i went to the guy to pick up the turbo and wat he said is that he has junk yards pull the turbo off b4 they even go on the lot so that he can go and buy them and sell them on ebay. some are junk but some r good. when i was there i ended up getting another one off a volvo to mess around with. the volvo one is a TD05 or 4 ... forget. ne way the volvo is trashed soo much bearing play the blades bounced off the housing and its all chewed up. the mercedes has good blades and shaft so its purly the seals i need. id stay away from the TD-- series if i think thats mitsubishi. also look at some flow charts http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/turbosupermaps.html this site takes a bit to uderstand but it can help to find the turbo that will meet ur needs. be careful with what ever u find because a used turbo may need more work then its worth.
besides that boooost away
