Project LX-T

Well as some of you may have noticed I havn't really been posting much latley and I did have a project of turboing my LX I was planning on doing. Well here's whats been going on with that for anyone who is curious. I had to wait a while to get money and I had to have a bung welded into my oilpan. Well here some pics of whats been up

I just put the turbo in today after dealing with all the water and oil lines the other day. So now I have all the lines ready to be attached to the turbo after I buy a couple more fittings.

Now if I could only remeber where I put my oxi sensor

As you can see the EGR is once again my enemy. So I'm going to have Lou's Custom Exhaust fix that for me again....I wish I had a welder

Nobody told me that the dipstick on the GTs where different. I had to pull that out and re-shape and reposition it so the turbo wouldn't get in it's way. That was unexpected...oh well

Got the injectors in yesterday. God damit these fuel rails are a PITA do unbolt. Stupid FPR get in the way and then the line to that gets in the way. My friends honda was so much easier. Oh well I got them in.

And one last pic

Left to do

Install intake piping (Intercooler is already in)
Put in Oxi sensor (two second job)
ECU swap (another two second job)
Attach oil and water lines to turbo
Install MBC and set to 6 psi
Install downpipe
Put ignition and battery back
Take to Lou's for EGR

Then I will be one of the very few with an LX Turbo. I'll update when I'm done. Sadly I need another paycheck so I can go to lou's. So my goal is to be driving her by Sat.

<------......................... Go ahead.....hit the karma button.....dont be afraid.....

So you plan to just swap to a GT ecu and keep the n/a wiring harness and disty? I dont think that will work. The n/a disty is vacuum advance and used different trigger wheels inside.

I documented the oil tube thing when I did an n/a block in my GT. It's been several years since I did that though...

just keep the n/a wiring and get a fmu. Would be the easiest thing in this case. Props!

It's been done before. Turbo cutlass said he never had a problem so I'm gonna take my chances

So, you don't plan on using a knock sensor or knock control unit?

I'm planning on putting one in when I do the tranny. Until then I'm just gonna run low boost for my trannies sake. When the boost goes up the sensor goes in

well I wont be seeing any hot days anytime soon. The tranny is happening in the early spring so Im not worried about it. If it happens I'd be suprised. I am planning on putting one in though

Nice work vrouv, although I do add that if you're scoring an ECU you might as well score the loom too - it's not hard to fit and will save lots of extra aggro.

If you want to run the GT distributor, you will have to use the GT ECU and wiring harness. DX/LX ECU cannot control GT distributor, totally different. Sounds like you're planning on running GT engine with DX/LX ECU. That won't work. Last few people to try that around here ended up blowing the engine.

Also highly recommend you pick up a factory workshop manual and wiring diagram.

just keep stock wiring and ecu and just use a fmu...easiest option.

How so? That means splicing in the FMU, and tuning it all up... easier to just thread a GT loom in with the GT distributor and GT computer. Easy as pie.
