I had a carb turbo GC that I built about 10 years ago, but it was never a serious project...It was a case of what can you build out of the parts bin.

It was a stock NA GC 2.0 8v carb engine, std carb removed with a GC turbo manifold +RHB5 std & almost stuffed turbo...I used a 1 3/4 inch SU...one of the easiest carbs to use with a turbo easiest to mount too as you literally just clamp it on to the compressor inlet!...
The whole thing was done as a bit of a joke, I just wanted to get some more power out of the std car with a budget of $0....but it used heaps of fuel and didnt run all that well when cold.

To be honest if your serious, steer clear of carbs, theyre too limiting...sure the EFI takes a bit of setting up....but its a million times better once its going.
One thing I didnt mention, As I was using the "suck through" method, which is the easiest to tune....you cant use an intercooler...as the Air/Fuel mix would be going through it...and there is a good chance it'd explode, leaving a lasting impression!
In the olden days, the suck through method was the most common way of turboing a carb motor....

I'll be using a blow-though setup, given the mentioned intercooler issue. From my readings I gather that, as long as there are no intake (pre & post carb) leaks, my carb should not be a limitation.

Given my engine size and output and my fairly low goal of 200HP, I'm confident that I can do it.

My next big hurdle is the carb intake modification... I can't wrap my head around how to create a strong hood for the carb. Any ideas?

You guys are giving me the inspiration to meet the challenge, actually!

i also have a carburated 2.0 12v coupe here. the throttle valves are waaay to small to make some real hp. the engine block is the same as the 2.2 only a shorter stroke ( and also different conecting rods and pistons of course)

im willing to send you a carb and a mani if you make it FI. just pay me the shipping and you get ythe rest for free!

one thing if you put the carburettor before thje turbo you cant use an intercooler. petrol will start to rain down in there !
and if you put presure on the crb by putting it post turbo you have to put the same presure on the petrol reservoir in there ( dunno the right word)

If you are going carburation, you might as well go with ITB - independent throttle bodies.
i'm just saying...

1990 626 GT 5 Door-- which "goes like a scalded weasel" says my father-in-law... on 1/2 throttle... Zoom Zoom...

bakmans, the block is not the same, the 2.2 f2 has more deck height than the 2.0 fe.
