Aren't some of the older Mazda trucks carb'd with the 2.2?

you could, but WHY???????

I mean you'd have to buy a good carb (a holley would be a start) then make a custom intake..... have the carb tuned for a draw/blow through turbo setup.....bla bla bla...

I really don't think it would be worth it at all!!

Gettin blown by one 19yr old...NICE!! Gettin blown by two...PRICELESS!!

You're crazy then. You'd eliminate all the need to buy standalone equipment but pay through the nose to get the carburator setup from overseas. 6 in one hand, half dozen in the other. Tuning a carburated turbo setup is a breeze compared to EFI.

yea.....i guess.
I think it would be a problem trying to get that carb and hat to fit under the hood, unce you made a new intake.....

Damn, now i'm a thinking too..............
You could get rid of ALOT of crap under the hood!!
hmm, i'm gonna do some measureing maybe....
We have an awesome guy that builds holly race carbs down here....
(picked up 1/2 second at the track on our race car)

Why would you need to make a new intake? You'd just have to get everything from overseas from someone reputable. I'd bet Dutch could get you some carburated parts or point you to someone who could. Shipping would kill you but hey....

or, look around myself when i'm there in two weeks????

But, no, i'd want to run a holley.....you know somthing acessable over here for parts.......

I still think there'd be room, and.......it wouldn't take much to run some runners, and make a base for the carb.

Why would you do that though when the parts are already ready already? You could modify whatever carb you wanted but the block to carb setup is already there for you, no need to reinvent the wheel.

right.... I know you can modify whatever carb you want.......

so why does holley and everyone sell carbs in different sizes.....

oh yea. because when you need more fuel, YOU NEED ANOTHER CARB!!!
sure I know theres different jets, and this and that....
(another thing thats gonna be hard to get with the factory carb)
but theres only so much a jet will do, before you need bigger.....

So, the cost of getting one from europe. Trying to get service parts to rebuild it. The cost of getting it setup for forced induction. Trying to get it to put out the proper a/f. bla bla bla...

I could make intake, put a real dependable NEW carb on it, thats setup FOR forced induction.... well to me it makes more sence.

Thats like telling a guy with a 85 camaro that wants to bolt up a 6-71 on there, that he should just get the quad redone, instaed of changeing carbs....

you think bumping up secondaries for boost is a breeze? how about a timing map? plus cold starts? carbs SUCK. i owned one carbed vehicle, and never will again. lets see someone try to pump out half the power as safely with a carb setup. until then, i disagree 100%.

[shizzle], you can hardly buy a holley for the price of a megasquirt these days

the times have changed. learn the technology, it is well worth it.

I loved my old carb'd Escort. Thing was reliable, and even though ti was very hard sometimes, it always started in the cold. Even down to 20 below.

Why anyone would want a carb'd setup in anything is beyond me. Theyre the most ineffecient way to deliver fuel, which has been a dead technology for nearly 40 years now.
