I agree with gavin as I have heard his car. It's no louder than anything else on the road. I also used 2.5 catback for a while but switched to 3" with resonator, cat and muffler. It's a much more refined sound.

Mazda_MX6_Turbo (Rami) used to or still has an open downpipe from pretty much the cat back. It sounds loud but hardly obnoxious.

Wanna know what it sounds like with no exhaust at all? Watch the ProtegeFest video from 2004. SD6 detached his exhaust from the elbow back.

i had stock front pipe to cat, no cat replaced for resonator, 2.5inch to a cannon which had no baffeling in it

i got it tested at 119.2db peak noise level tester like 5m back at a 45 degree angel
that was just from free revving the engine stationary

obnoxious is only just the start of it, set of many car alarms

Yes i run my car with open exhaust sometimes were the cat is at, but its not crazy loud, it gets loud when i go WOT and under full boost, the car seems louder than it actually is when you are in the car, but i've had Kingmarty drive my car once to see how loud it actually is if im a pedestrian walking on the side of the road, and it actually wasnt all that loud, i've head hondays with rice can mufflers sound louder than that.

but lets not forget that im running the stock downpipe, which is 1.75", running a 3" pip will be louder.

The Ebay special mufflers arent that bad. I had the one on my car for 5 months or so and it sounded pretty good. But then again, I was on stock piping other than the muffler...

What did you expect? It's for a naturally aspirated sohc 12v 2.2 stump puller. Summitracing probably has it cheaper.

Which is more than enough for a naturally aspirated 2.2 regardless of what you've been told.
