just had an experience w/ HLA on my mazda 626 1993 before,i did change every thing the round shim thing (HLA), but still the same. you could try to chk the oil pump seal & other oil seal inside when oil sump is removed its possible that it has a leak w/c cant pump suficient oil going up to the valves.
