'89 GT - Did an EBC install - 15psi. No issues?

Have done a few pulls since my install, dialed it up slowly, figuring i would nail the boost cut.

It was chilly last night, plenty of volumetric airflow through the vaf to hit the cut, but never did.

15.1psi according the my peak hold function. Multiple times.

Is my car a freak? It's stone stock and i threw on a EBC i was planning on using a higher end vehicle for the hell of it and am very impressed.

Thoughts?

take off your air filter, start your car, then push the VAF door all the way open. you should hear a beep then hit fuel cut. If not, then possibly your MX6 has been chipped, or has the VAF hack.

Really?

Ok...SEARCH for it

I can never find it myself whenever I search for it...I personally would rather chip it than hack it.

Really?

i think it is called a hack because it mostly involves shimming the door so it cant be pinned fully back. its basically horrible for your fuel/timing/ecu in general. especially if you raise boost, you can say byebye to your f2t.

raising boost? chip or megasquirt ftw.

I tapped 15.8psi today and finally found the cut.

From there, I had to continuously dial her back, as the cut got lower and lower.

Only way i can describe it;

It seemed like the car had to 'remember' it had a fuel cut, and once it did she figured out the right number

Now, I can dial in 13.4psi w/o a cut, anything above 13.6psi will cause a cut.

So, i am leaving her down around 12psi until i chip her.

Dead steady 15.1psi, my controller doesn't spike.

you live in a high elevation? maybe you vaf is a bit corroded and wouldn't pin back, and now has freed itself. isn't having a mechanical device measure your airflow fun?

Considering this car has been a virgin since brand new, i wouldn't be surprised at all.

And yes, archaic.
