Glowing manifold turbo and o2 housing

Hi ,just recently got a 1989 626 turbo and have been noticing that ex. manifold ,turbine housing and 02 sensor housing glow red even after off boost driving,it also takes longtime to cool down to no glowing at all. is this normal for these engines ? if so what can be done to reduce it/eliminate it?
will a bigger exhaust help(putting one on this friday).

Cheers

Timing retarded fully or something?

Does the engine sound unusually loud? Is it pretty gutless?

10 degrees bridged , knock sensor is not retarding timing if that is what your getting at. It has plenty of power.it varies from dark red if driving off boost to bright orange when driving hard

what do you mean "10 degrees bridged" ? That you are driving with it at 10 degrees? Or that it is 10 degrees when the test plug has the wire bridged? I assume the latter. The coolant line issue seems feasible.

Snap some pics/vids, at the very least its cool to look at :-)

yep 10 degrees base timing bridged. The coolant flow crossed my mind but turbo centre housing isnt glowing, only the exhaust gas flow path is glowing.the turbo and lines have recently been off as it is a brand new CHRA assembly with new hoses so I have steered away from that possibility.
I forgot to mention it is only visible in the dark. anyone else experienced this?
Or has anyone else got any ideas?

Cheers

I would guess the cat is pretty blocked up, the coolant for the turbo wont cool the many or o2 housing.

Figuring out speed limits in Quebec:
(cornering) The speed at wich your car will break traction and leave the road -1 km/h .(staight line) In the highest gear, when the car is red lined .
Those who do not respect these "SPEED LIMITS" should keep of the roads of QUEBEC.

I am kind of hoping exhaust will fix it as I have planned to make one this friday.
It made 102kw@wheels on 10 psi whith this stock exhaust choking it hard.(not bad though considering it is ATX).I am putting it back on the dyno as soon as I do the exhaust, for boost and fuel set up,so I will have the results on friday for power and also whether the glowing is gone!

Whatever you do...make sure you dont touch it with your tongue or you nipples.

It's cast iron man. What do you think it does when it gets hot? And of course you can only see it happen at night, it's night time!

I am well aware of the material it is all made out of and what it does when it gets hot and the fact I can see it when it's dark.

What I was asking is whether it is normal to glow like that even when driving off boost.
