Oil Filter Question
Just wondering if anyone is using a larger oil filter. I got one for a ZR 1(I think), but have not installed it. Seems it has a lot less gasket touching the block. Anyone had any luck with these? Is there another larger filter that will work on a '90 turbo?

There are two filters from mazda that will fit, one is a very small one that looks too small and the other one is about 20 percent bigger and is alot easier to work with as far as getting it on and off the engine. Most of the aftermarket ones are even bigger than the larger one from mazda.

Yes, the ZR1 filter is a lot bigger. I'm just concerned about a gasket blow out because only part of it is in contact with the base. I used '86 626 turbo (I believe) filters on my 323 GTX and my '99 miata because they were bigger. Just have not found an upgrade for the stock GT filter yet.

i spent almost an hour doing this in shucks a few days ago. the filter for a speed6's gaskets line up but I don't know if it will fit cause the center section sticks out a little more than the 1g 6's.
