different stock turbos

quick question for whoever has an answer! was looking on ebay for another turbo and this guy had a vf11 bolted up to a hf crx manifold and it looked like a direct bolt up and if so then a dsm turbo will also bolt up. so any one know if thats a direct bolt up or not?

There are no direct bolt ups for our car.

Whatever.

Well truthfully you can't say there isn't just because no one has found one yet. So some where out there, there may be!!!

As for that crx manifold I highly doubt it would just be a bolt up deal. He prob welded on a new flange to make it work. Plus I just re-read your post, a vf11 is not a vj11 (which is what our cars come with)

FYI, the CRX never came turbo stock.... so it wasn't a direct bolt up for him, either.

thats a subby turbo. it does look very similar to ours. i used to have one. thought it might have been an upgrade, but after measuring the compressor wheel, and inlet, passed it on to a friend.

The Vf11 is the same size as the T-bird turbo and is a direct bolt in (bolts into the turbo housing, not to the manifold).

The smaller 323 turbo's use the same 4 bolt manifold size and so does the 86 626GT but these are smaller turbos, also I have a customer with a turbo charged Miata, the turbo has the same bolt pa-turn as our manifold but has smaller holes (can't figure out what it's from?).

AFAIK the 4 bolt IHI pattern is mainly for diesel turbos, only Mazda specified it to be used it on gasoline engines.

Maybe so as to discourage the aftermarket from bolting on bigger ones.....its hard to see any other reason, unless they thought the normal 3 bolt IHI flange didnt have enough bolts to be reliable.

If the engineers had any reason to think the exhaust manifold would get as hot as we now know it does, 4 bolt flanges would be a very good idea. Maybe that's why?
