Aftermarket Front Speakers
Hi guys,
I was just wondering:
What aftermarket front speakers do you have? And if different what other brand do you recommend?
Dang, 4" speakers are smaller compared to the cars i've had before which all had atleast 5x7s. Would the 4" show a lack of quality compared to the bigger ones? I'm looking to get a some new fronts and rears. I'm just curious what you guys use for the fronts and how yall like it.
I'm thinking of pioneer because it's cheap, but i also like infinity's.
I'm using a 4 inch audiobahn set but they dont sound too good cuz i dont have an amp running to them. They run at like 90 watts rms, so they need more power than the 25 or so that the headunit puts out to each speaker.
I used to have clarion speakers in there that came with the car but they were cheap. I'm thinking of switchin to the pioneers or another speaker thats got a lower rms because it would be cheaper to replace the speakers than to buy and amp and wiring kit, etc.
I would say that any of the normal brands, alpine, infinity, pioneer, clarion, etc. would be alright. 4 inchs is pretty small so i wouldnt look at them as being all that much different
i have pioneers wired right in no amps..not bad for 4" front speakers....wish i would have gotten pioneers in the back..but in the future i plan to get a whole new system..only one issue right now..money..
I got pioneers too, front and back. The ones in the back usually overpower the fronts so I can't tell a big difference from not having them for about 2 months, but I got the fronts on the cheap.
91 DX. Stock. New audio, rebuilt transmission, PGT wheels. SOLD.
I have little 4 inch pioneers with 70 watts hooked right up they suck, vibration all the time and when I had rear speakers and a amp with subs I only got the highs from the front If you leaned down towards it. Maybe you can fit at least 5 1/4 up their anyone do that before? and I think the speakers are mounted wrong anyways the sound hits the seat then goes to the floor. Maybe Ill put some tweeters on the pillars or the door panel.
im a big fan of kenwood, pioneer, and audiobahn if there would be one to chose from it would have to be kenwood especially if you have subs those 4'' speakers work good with a pioneer deck so you can adjust the high mid and low frequency speakers the best quality sound is the sound where you ca here the lyrics along with some bass.
kickpanels, decent 4's in the factory hole and/or fiberglassed kick panels for the floor... they look pretty good IMO and i can do they cheap.. ill post pics once i finish my friends in his car this weekend, along with mine (he has my digital camera) ... a set wouldnt cost you a ton and can be used with any size speaker (just make the hole the right size...) anyone interested can PM me and id be happy ot make them a set, first gen i can definatly do, second i can probably do.. just hit me up if youd like

I have JBL 4's in the front, running of the head unit and hi-passed. Headunit is pioneer 50w x 4.
They sound okish, but really lack a lot of mid range and do get overpowered by the rest of the system a fair bit.
Quality wise is alright, they are just a little lacking in some areas.
IMO don't bother with the factory location. 4" and facing down just didn't do it for me. I was able to fit a set of 5-1/4" / 1" separates into my doors, no pods just some hacking of the door and interior panel, and the sound improvement was fabulous. I used a set of Diamond Audio speakers, they sound great.

Hmm, i haven't taken a look at it enough yet, but i'm going to see if i can fabricate it to fit maybe even some 5x7s or 6x8s in there because judging from what i hear you guys tell me, I being a music enthusiast would not be satisfied at all lol.
You don't have a whole lot of room in the factory locations, nor do you have alot of choices for what you can use. I have all Boston Acoustics myself, cost a whole bundle but well worth it.
Although this IS the general forum, there is also an audio froum like SleepCounter stated.
