After fixing an electrical problem with my high beams and reverse lights, my fuel light is now staying on solid. Maybe a coinsidence? The car was low on fuel and the light came on and when I filled up, it never shut off. I found this post, but could someone help me further? P.S. The screws holding my fuel pump in are rusty....eek. I don't think i can get them out.

The rear seat comes up very easily - below it you'll see the access panel with the Fuel Pump (two White/Yellow), Fuel guage (Yellow), and Fuel light(White/Red) wires going to the pump/float/sensor assembly. there are three black wires used for grounds coming out as well.
As I said in the other thread, I think you've got wiring harness issues. Both the fuel light and the power steering wiring go through a large connector near the fusebox that is perhaps loose or chafed against something.

Ahhh, magik. You do make a very good point. I never knew they both ran through the same connector. I bet that when I jiggled the "speaker/alarm" box back in, that it moved that connector. I did this after the fuel light had been on, but my power steering came back after that. I will definitly poke around under there. I guess i'll just remove my driver seat..it's a pain to contort under there. Thanks a bunch. I'll post updates if I find anything.
*EDIT* Any info as to where this connector might be located, exacty? I can't see to find it.
Okay guys, I don't know where anything is, or where to even start. Could somebody please point me towards the direction I need to go? If it's electrical, where is this connector and what all does it go into? If it's this copper rod, where exactly on the tank is it and how can I access it? Please help me here.
There are lots of large electrical connectors near the joint box (big box that interior fuse panel is mounted on.) You're looking for a connector that joins two large wiring harnesses together. Copper rod is mounted on the fuel pump assembly (inside the tank) and requires removal of the fuel pump. Honestly I wouldn't mess with it unless needed - your fuel pump screws are probably rusted to hell and will be a real pain getting them out.
Alright, big connector that 2 large harnesses go to. (I know what the joint box is :P) The thing is...I unplugged each connector, one by one and turned the key on to see if the light would go out. It didn't. I think maybe there was one..maybe connectors facing the firewall that I didn't unplug. I'm not sure. As for the copper rod deal....I don't really want to mess with it because the screws are rusted to hell. That could turn into a bad day. I don't know. Maybe I wired something wrong when I found the wires for my reverse lights. Who knows. After that, it just suddenly came on and never went off. Thanks for the help. I really do appreciate it. I'll poke around again and see what I can see.
My diagrams are showing it's the connection that connects the dash harness to the rear harness. It's somewhere around the joint box. The connectors on each side (rear and dash sides) have about 15 wires so it's a large set of wires headed back towards the rear of the car.. It's somewhere around the fuse box area, the diagrams show it up pretty high, possibly near the sunroof motor in the fender. It looks like the rear harness (at least part of it) runs along the left side of the driver's seat back to the power steering control box and splits, heading back to the fuel tank area.
Wow, good info. I saw the rear harness when I was looking at the fuel pump screws and connectors. I could just follow it up to the front, I suppose? I'm not the only one whos' done work under the dash, I could tell. So, i'll probably end up ripping everything apart trying to track this conenctor down, haha. Thanks man...that was alot of help!
Sick- If you're talking about taping over the lights.... The point of me trying to track down the problem, is so it will work again. By working again, I mean that when i'm broke as hell and i'm low on fuel...the light can come on and I can be all like, "Oh snap, y0! I'm almost out of duh fuel!"
i got the entire opposite problem, my fuel light never goes on anymore.
Hmm. Could the bulb be burned out? Maybe a problem with the connector at the fuel pump housing? Either that, or a problem in the same area that I need to have a look at.
