Wtf!!!!!!!!!! [Belt Ribs Missing]

K so I went outside to check out my ground wires, and I noticed that my pulley belt from the crank looked a little frayed. On a closer inspection instead of 5 ribs I have my belt on 4 of them and the fifth one kind of burnt off. What would be the cause of this??? Is it just that the belts are on there way out?

Karma for good responses.

Well the motor was just swapped in November of 05 so at most they should be a year old, or the place that sold us the motor lied and put the ones from the 6 year down time my car had on there Either way I have a set of replacement belts down at the shop but I was waiting til i got the PP light weight pulley before I put them on... This is one expensive April

How about a out of alignment accessory or a bad crank keyway causing the crank pulley to wobble.

my old lx did that same thing with the alternator belt. i was flat broke at the time, and drove it that way for atleast 3 weeks praying it didnt break. my serpentine belt right now is the exact same as yours though, i'm gonna replace it this weekend. it has been that way for a couple weeks

id say if the belt isnt in horrible condition, you'd be alright waiting for your new pulley to show up

Well it sounds like it's doing better than my alternator belt. Mine is actually twisted, so I guess the belt wears off on both sides

Good thing is I dont drive it much but on the weekends and it hasnt gone out just yet. I'll be putting her(my GT) down as soon as I aquire all the parts that need to be replaced like the belts, brakes, control arm, tierods, and whatever other maintenance issues come along.
