You have what is called a valet key. Try it out on the trunk. I bet it will not open that either. You might have to make a trip to the dealer if it's something you can't live without.

As far as the speakers go, you don't need to have the seats down but it helps. Just take off the speaker grills and unscrew the speakers. It's very tricky getting the screws out by the back window. You will need a very small screwdriver or one with a 90 degree bend in it.

naw bro i sometimes have the same problem

the lock thing on the headrest of the seat...when it is in the locked position it is down all the way....you cant unlock it without putting some downward pressure on it while twisting..the same concept as child proof medicine containers...try that i guarantee it will work....dont try to hard though...kinda wiggle it but DONT force it,,,and make sure you use downward pressure while turning
it will engage and pop up...i guarantee it thats your problem...let me know once you get that done as i have also changed out my back speakers...i'll be able to give ya hints

you know also

once you get the seats down you'll see that the whole fabric cover over the speakers is mounted to thin cradboard wood type stuff...that whole thing lifts up...to reveal all the screws...which are on top..if you use 6x9's you'll have to cut as the holes only allow for 5 1/2 to 6 speakers

I would love to use 6x9's but how much work is actually envolved in it, and I tried the downward force alot yesterday and I still had no luck but once it warms up today I'll be out there, I knew you had to push in but I dunno maybe wasn't holdin my mouth right, I just was hopeing to god it didn't require a seperate key to work the thing, also are our fronts 4s or 5 1/2 one dealer says 4 and the other 5 1/2 and I was first thinking 4s but I don't have the stock ones there to compare with any thing. so I dunno thanks for the help guys

Just disconnect the harness, no cutting involved. You should take your seat out and remove the sub from the bottom. Toss that dead weight POS.
