I have another problem. When i crank up my car, I hear a popping sound coming from the drivers side. It also happens when I take off and when I come off of the gas pedal. This started happening after I cleaned the engine. What could it be?

Is it a pinging sound?
Is it coming from the exhaust?
This could be one of two things, IMHO. Either you're too lean and you're getting detonation, or too rich and you're getting backfiring, perhaps through a small hole in the exhaust.
Sounds serious, might wanna get that looked at.
Also, check your spark plugs for wear and so on. If it's pinging, they'll be all heat glazed and whitish.
Seaching for a '6 again.

Longboarder, it's actually a popping sound. I doesn't sound like it's coming from the engine. Like i said, I only hear at take off, when slowing down quickly, or starting the engine.

cv joints maybe?.. mine do that all the time, i also get popping noises when i go up short steep ackward hills and bumps and stuff.. im assumeing my frames bending or something, its kinda messed up..
I hear only one pop in each scenario. It could be motor mounts or cv joints. I know i have one bad cv boot but that is on the opposite side of where the noise is coming from. I know cv boots are relatively inexpensive but what about motor mounts? Anyone know where motor mounts can be purchased other than the mazda dealership?

Yo Byron, if you cleaned your engine, and didn't cover your distributor cap, and all the wires and stuff, most likely u mights got water in the ****, mighta got corroded. Where i live there was madd floods, and the water was high, well, i ddidn't get water in the engine, bbut my sh#t started to pop and vibrate, and jus feel weird. So i replaced the distributor and rotor, and started that bi$ch, it fired right up no popping, no nothing. Try that if you haven't ddone it aready, it might work. Later!
Well the way it looks there could be a number of things wrong. I guess I'll get a "kit" with all the bushings, new tie rod ends, it's time for struts, and motor mounts. Any idea where I can find a kit with all the bushings and what not?

If you cleaned the engine, and it started to make a poppping sound only after that, what makes you think its your suspension? And besides there is no kit for our 6's, you have to by everythin individually. Well whatever, if you think its ur suspension, check out www.shox.com or www.nopi.com, some other parts you might have to buy it at your local parts store.
look, Last time i checked water doesnt do anything to rubber which is what your motor mounts are made out off. And do you think your suspension doesnt get wet when you drive in the rain?
it must be somthing electrical i say replace the distributor cap and rotor first then go spend all your money

Eh Mike, thats what i told Byron, its only common sense that it ain't ur god damn suspension, cuz u said it only started after you washed your engine, comon now people. Its definitely gotta be ur distributor and rotor, its happened to me before. WHats the point of asking questions when you don't take other peoples answers into consideration! Some people, i swear, even if they have the answer dead rite in there face they still don't see it. ANd yea don't u think ur suspension gets wet when u drive in rain, DUHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!LOL
Dutch and Mike, I appreciate your response. However, I am not having any problems with engine at this particular time. When I cleaned the engine, I made sure all important components were covered. It only happens I crank the car, take off, or decelerate quickly. I am not trying to be a smart***. Just seeking some ideas as to what my dilemna might be. My 6 has a few miles on it and I don't know what the previous owner did in terms of maintenance and what not. Thanks again for your response.
