Owner of a new 4WD Hatchback

Hi all,

I just won the auction for this car (382 €).
Car is located in germany (Like most 4WDs).
Lotta miles on it but I will be swaping the engine soon hopefully.

If you don't know what happened to my other 4WD: I blew the tranny during a rally raid.

I know that the tranny is still weak on that new one but I still wanna make it into a sports car.

The plan is to build an autobahn car this time though.

This one should see a low power Fe3 Turbo ~ 200Hp Max
I will also lower it because the stock ride height is aweful (On my other 4wd I went the other way by giving it a higher ride height).

All that to say that I should start working on this car pretty soon and that I am back in business.

Peace
NSXR

Yes pretty nice car.

I like the front bumper (Aftermarket)

And since it is german it should have the leveling headlights.

I also have a nice set of rims to go on it.

Peace

Did you ever find out why the original transmission went wrong....?

I am wondering whether it was just general G series transmission weakness, or the diff ?

Quaife makes a Diff for the G type , if that indeed was the issue.

G5MX-R ... Basically a modified G5M-R (Stock F2 NA Tranny) but with added weakness due to the added parts. G for G type tranny, 5 fo 5 Speed, M for Manual tranny, X for 4WD, R for Relocated shifter (Cable actuated in the 4WD).

What broke in mine are the gears and the diff (front) ... I shaved lots of teeth. Well the day before I was chasing some SUV for quite some time at high speed (~ 100mph) and heavy loaded (Very heavy) ... I was trying to tail him because of my car having too much wind resistance and higher gas mileage.

I am fully aware that I may blow this tranny again but I got this car for cheap so ...

Thank you guys for the support.

Peace
NSXR

would internals from a G type trans from a 2WD work in the 4WD model?

no 4wd parts or cars in north america ... sorry.
Back when i lived there I investigated.

Only option is to import a euro or jap spec car.

Also, here is a thread i started when i was investigating:

That makes sense, the extra weight was porbably a large contributor, and front diff expiring probably isnt terribly unusual...
But when you say gears, which ones i particular ? the sun gears in the diff or did you strip 3rd ? which seems to be the usual one to go ?

It looks like a handful of the usual G-type box fixes would probably make it just survive.

Zach : I am trying to get a Quaife G-type diff atm, but they've run out and are looking for 10 orders to start another run

I think there were some 4wd wagons imported to the UK and NZ...I thought about trying to get one myself from the NZ for a split second before deciding that its too much of a long shot...
its easier if you can pick one up for 385 euros tho! I'd build one up for sure...
