Blower motor resistor pack?

First offm this is a question for Probe owners, or any MX6 owner who may have a Probe shop manual.

I have the electronic dash in my Probe. The speed of the fan is controlled by a resisitor pack. Now my shop manual got scattered all over the place, and I havent yet put it all back together in the correct order, so I cant find the info myself.

I took the pack apart at work, and it consists of a capacitor, a transistor, and a resistor.

I need to know what the resistance value is supposed to be on the resistor, and what the specs on the capacitor are. No specs are listed on the parts, other than the transistor.

Do you have the 1-2-3-4 style blower, or the infinitely variable blower (knob)? If the latter, that is a probe-only thing and you probably won't find much help here. The 1-2-3-4 style resistor pack is just resistors inside, as far as I know.

Yes its the infinite-speed one.

I know most people on here probably wont be able to help, but I know for a fact there;s a good chunk of Probe owners also on here and that some have shop manuals. I posted it up on PP looking for an answer already, but with no luck.

I actually really looked at the part again today when I had somne spare time at work (Didnt look too close when I disassembled it) but it appears that its not even a resistor that I was looking at, rather it is some form of fuse. But it ohms out at 0, so its blown. The specs I found on the capacitor, and am left with trying to cross-reference the part # on the transistor...

Im a Ford Technician. We have the old shop manuals. Im confused though, is the resistor pack supposed to be in the instument cluster? I have a 626 but I do have an instrument cluster from a 90(Ithink) probe that I would give to you. Let me know if I can help.

P.S. the old shop manuals and wiring diagrams are sketchy at best but Ill do what I can.

T3/T4 turbo swap, FMIC, custom 2.5" hardpipes, ching chong BOV and 38mm wastegate, 2.5" exhaust...MS up and running thanks to compnut21 and Fredio54( and a few local friends). Boost, oil pressure and EGT autometer guages. LC1 Wideband

No, this pack is located under the dash on the passengers side, inside the housing for the fan.

Picture of it:

This is supposedly a pic of it in the manual, but the pic shows one that has 3 connectors, like the MX6 has. The Probe version has only 1 connector. But the area is pretty much the same.

does the resistor have any color bands on it? that would tell you the value. if you could take apart the unit i oculd probably make some decent guesses at what value its supposed to be

I work in the electronics field, so if it had bands on it, Id also already know what value it would have been

I posted a few threads up that its not actually a resistor, but rather a fuse. Im just trying to locate a similar fuse thru work and see if it works... (Im an el

test the transistor, if its good just bypass the fuse and test.

but you should know this, unless your trying to be safe

Yup. Fuses are there for a reason; they should never be bypassed/jumpered.
