Ran out of gas, now wont start. Need Input

What a fun weekend, heres a brief of the whole story.

Went to the local YMCA to pick up my brother. On the way, I noticed my E light came on, but then faded away. This is pretty normal, I noticed if my E light comes on, a lot of times I can drive for another 5 minutes and I'll suddenly have a 1/4 tank. So I know the level sender isn't too accurate. Nevertheless, it dies as soon as he gets in the car. Wont start back up. Won't fire at all.

So my brother gets out and we push it to the side of the lot and see if itll start then. Wont. Dad came with gas and put 2 gallons in, still wont start. We hook jumper cables up and try and start it, wont start.

So after a big long fiasco of how to get it home, we end up pulling it with a tow rope connected to my dad's 4runner. Get it in the garage and warm it up (its like, 20 degrees outside). First thoughts were that there was water sucked up in the tank and it froze in the fuel injectors and wasn't letting gas through. So after it all warmed up, we tried to start it and it still wouldnt start.

Long story short, pulled the plugs off and it sprayed fuel out of each cylinder so it has fuel, the plugs were replaced, and each are sparking when we ground them. Each cylinder has compression. A little funny though, the first one was 140 psi, then 130, and the other two were 125 or so.

My only guess now is to check the distributor cap for water/oil or anything out of the ordinary. Any ideas on this would be great.

Thanks
Jordan

Well, I was going to create a new thread... but since this is here and topic is relevant. I just rebuilt my motor and it's ready to start, Do I have to "purge" my injectors and just let the fuel pump fill the lines itself???

Jordan, change out fuel filter and check your intake filter as well.

Chris, disconnect your high tension lead and crack your car for 20 seconds. this will prime your injectors and turbo

what exactly is a "high tension lead"? And "crack" as in turn over?

Yesterday we finally got it running. She sputtered over and over and finally came to life and spit out plenty of smoke. Dad was messing around with all of the wires between the coil and distributor and it somehow something worked.

So I take it out for a spin around the neighborhood and it dies in the farthest corner from my house. Pulled it back and decided today we were gonna put in new wires, cap/dist, coil, and igniter. The wires haven't been replaced in who knows how long. And also, when we took the distributor apart, we noticed that the contact point on the rotor was really loose and you could wiggle it around. This probably isn't too good, is it? haha. We'll see how it all runs afterwards. Will probably look into a new fuel filter too as I don't know if that has ever been replaced.
