2.2T electrical and oil ?s

car is a 1992 ford probe gt im posting this here because probetalk ery rarely answers questions i have about my 1g...ok few quick questions what does the voltemeter gauge actually read??? is it alternator output or what, just wondering because as of the other day my gauge reads very bottom of normal usually is right in the middle. I checked my battery connections and that wasnt the problem. also checked the main 80Amp fuse and its good. Friday at work i accidently left my keys in my car with the radio on and boost and air fuel ratio gauge illuminated, and was wondering if that maybe killed my 3 year old optima battery. Finally my low oil light is now on and i checked my oil and im full hope someone has some answers thanks in advance.... mike

hey mike im not sure what to say but i didnt want to leave you hangin... i say that your meter is reading low cause you left it on... ide just take it to inerstate and make them charge it for free and they give you a loaner if that doesnt solve your problem im sorry but i tried.

Have you had your alternator checked?
Low voltage is typically a sign that either your alternator is going bad, or you have a bad battery.

It might not actually be your connections.

Use a seperate voltmeter (get one at radio shack!), and check the battery voltage when the car is off, and when the car is on, and then also the voltage when you rev the engine -- so check the voltage - and open the throttle - rev the engine, keep the rpms high for a while, and watch the voltage. You shoudl get a higher voltage at a higher rpm, upt to a point.

Report your findings.
