Aftermarket passanger side motor mount ~ doesnt line up

Just curious as to why every aftermarket motor mount I find has the bolt holes 1/2" off to the side? was this an improvement, or is this going to jack my motor up if I install it then try to drive it? Just curious if I need to check out pick n pull for a used one or not... Any info would help.

Yeah most likely you've got a N/A mount but good luck finding the GT/Turbo mount.

What I did was just pressed the rubber out of the N/A and pressed it into my old Gt/Turbo mount.

just make sure to keep the orientation the same.

Motor Mount 1989 - 1992 Ford Probe 2.2 Front Right Stan:eBay Motors (item 280412508183 end time Nov-18-09 18:03:27 PST)

So the above link is to an ebay auction which show the exact part, the auction states that it is for the turbo models pgt & mx6. thie is the same mount that Kragan & autozone tried to sell me, if you look at the picture you'll see that the 2 holes are not centered on the mount, they are off by 1/2". can someone please take a look at their cars to see if theirs are off center or centered its the top passenger side mount that sits right near the belts.

Thanks

everywhere i tried to get that mount from had that same one and thats for the N/A engine. the only place out of az, discount and napa hat had the right one was the dealership, lol.

your better off just keeping the old mount and poly filling it for $15 instead of the $200+ at the dealership for the right one.

Yeah the dealership here has nothing, what do you mean by poly filling it? is it pretty easy to do?

Also the guy at Auto zone told me that it is a hydraulic motor mount, which kinda makes sense because when I busted it all the fluid came gushing out, would poly filling it still be an option being that its a hydraulic mount?

like others have said. there are two different styles. and there about 1/2 inch difference. its the n/a mount compared to the turbo mount. you dont want to use the wrong mount cause your motor will be sitting at an angle.

basically take the mount out and scrub it clean and let it dry off completely, put the metal spacer back in(the metal tube in the middle of the rubber) if it is to the point of falling out like mine was. center it, and pump it full of polyurethane. i used the 3M window weld for putting in windshields and it has been holding up for over a year now.

mounts are different for auto vs manuals. I've tested this theory in the junkyard once. Auto front and side mounts do not line up to manuals. NA Manual and GT Manual mounts line up.

maybe the change is years for the passenger mount?

Huh? Define front and side mount...

The pass side mount, I have never checked for auto, but is different from N/A to turbo, the front mount, closest to the radiator is the same between all models, the mount closest to the rack is based on tranny, turbo and N/A are very close, but they mount to the trans different, and the top trans mount is based on trans...

If you use the N/A mount on the pass side, you end up with a very good one wheel wonder and a fighter down the quarter, likes to go to the right...learned that one in high school

the mount in the front is very much different between auto/manual but same between GT/LX.

Same with the passenger engine mount. The driver side and rear mount I haven't checked.
