I have a 1991 LX 5speed manual. The rear engine mount is cracked and clunking. Rockauto and every other online parts retailer lists this part for my application: http://info.rockauto.com/getimage/ge...nchor/8088.jpg
The Mazda dealer wants over $100 for it (which is where I may have to buy it) and my local parts guys cannot cross reference the dealer's part # to anything. The parts guy suggested pulling the mount and then going through the pictures in his parts manual to look for one that appears the same, then ordering it to see if it will work.
WTF? why is every single supplier listing a part for my car - which my car doesn't have? Either every parts supplier has screwed up their inventory numbers or I have the only N/A to use a turbo mount (which, should be impossible) ??
the 1st one you linked to on rock auto is the drivers side trans mount. not the lower trans mount your looking for. hence why it looks different. lol
You're probably correct - that is a driver's side mount, but it's listed as a "REAR" mount. "lol"
All the other online parts retailers also list that part as a "REAR" mount. The Anchor Auto Parts book also lists that one as a REAR, as does their website. "lol"
because technically that is the rear i guess. the front of a motor is where the belts are technically. of course that just confuses FWD guys. lol. the mount your looking for would probably be called a lower trans mount if i had to guess.
According to the Anchor parts book, he looked up what is termed a "front" "rear" etc, and the "rear" should be the right one. We looked up all 4 mounts and none of them looked anything like mine.
This is what the dealer brought up on his screen, doing a search of my VIN:
HOWEVER, my mount looks very similar to this one:
Here's a pic of my mount
And
You can see that the mount attaches to both sides of the transmission, clamping onto it, rather than just one side like the mount in the dealer's schematic.
The original mount broke when only two bolts were left holding it on (the first two were broken when a large rock fell off a dump truck and went under the car) so I'd like to get another direct replacement with all 4 bolt holes on it.
Any advice? Someone have a used mount like mine to sell me?
the one pictured in the dealer break down is the GT style mount. the n/a's is like the one you pictured on ebay, that bolts to each side. why not just buy that one off ebay?
As far as fitment, they are interchangeable...I think the GT's are a bit stiffer...there are only 2 bolts on any of them, then the long bolt through the rubber...so if it broke 2 bolts, none are really holding it...I have some n/a mounts that are a 1 piece like that and others that are 2 piece, I thought the GT's did the same thing, but maybe not...size and bolt pattern the GT and V6 mounts are the same, but the v6 mounts have less meat in them...
I have an extra one that I could sell for cheap if it comes down to it, but let me know a bit before if you want it so I can dig it up and make sure it's good...
The one on ebay is confirmed as automatic transmission only. The dealer scan also has an inset (I cut that part out) that shows the turbo mount - it looks almost identical to the N/A mount - just slightly different spacing on the bolt holes but definitely both of them are depicted as only bolting to one side of the transmission.
If guys are pulling big power out of their GT's with the single side mount, it must be good enough my my little old F2.
hey, so I just realized something...I was think wrong LX...your mount is different than a GT, but ANY n/a mount will work there (at least manual) just different years had them as 2 piece or 1 piece...my bad...I did start in probes, though, and automatically think v6 for LX
I've been able to find the mount you need at both autozone website and rockauto...anchor part number 8462 at rockauto
