just a quick guess but is you brake caliper sticking? does the wheel spin freely by hand?

Sounds like it could be the spider gears and pinion gears are going in the differential (inside the transmission) as they spin and lock and grind they can send power to just one wheel and lock the other back and forth from wheel to wheel resulting in the shaking and pulling your feeling. (In neutral with the car jacked up spin one tire forward by hand (Drivers side), and have someone hold the other wheel still, if you feel grinding or it's rough spinning it's the differential (drop the transmission fluid and look for debris) If it spins freely then spin the passenger side while holding the drivers side tire still, if it's rough and grinding the whole time then it could be the hanger bearing on the intermediate shaft.) (Usually if the diff is in good working order and (in neutral car jacked ) you spin one tire one way the other tire spins in the opposite direction as the pinion and spider gears turn.

Or the strut mount/ strut or coil spring broke (inspect)

Or the rack and pinion stripped a tooth ( Jack car, have someone hold the steering wheel and push and pull one tire like your checking inner and out tie rods and look for play that moves the other wheel with the one your holding while the steering wheel stays still ).

But first check the ball joint, make sure it hasn't dropped out of the control arm or stretched out the hole.
