So obviously you would need the entire engine harness to the ECU. However, of the fuse and relay blocks, what is needed and what could be cut away.
Opinions are welcome if easier to simply wire up the couple of relays and fuses needed to get injector, ignition, and ECU powered.
you can disconnect and remove every sensor on the firewall , including every single vacuum line except knock control . everything on my firewall is gone, including egr . on all my cars

Thanks ademan, I trust your opinion.
With every firewall sensor disconnected, I expect many CEL codes will show up on the stock ECU. That's okay. Will any of those codes cause the ECU to put the engine into a limp mode?

no, the only cel you will get is the ocassional egr code when you cruising, other than that . the ecu will work perfect and run better. without all the other crap. ball you have to do after geting rid off all the crap on the firewall, is run the bov/boost gauge.... vacuum straight to the IM,and the back of your motor will look better.
this is my old daily driver i just sold. its now running 23-24psi on stock ecu /fcon.

Awesome that a lot of CEL codes won't trigger as it will make my project easier to shake out issues if the CEL is actually meaningful.
Any idea how I would wire up a CEL if not using the stock gauge cluster? For now, I do have access to the original gauge harnesses if it's a wire on that. I have not trimmed those off yet.
I'll have to look at your video later, YouTube is blocked here at work.
realistically, there are 2 relay's that are needed to run the engine. The ECU triggers the fuel pump relay which is under the ECU. You'll also need to keep cooling fan relay(s) if you want to run the standard fan, especially if you have the dual speed fan found on the autos.
