change speedometer cable?

Recently, there is an abnormal hiss noise from front when i drive, especially at high speed and low temp. The garage people said the speedometer cable needed to be changed. It costs $67 from dealer.

Can i just take it out and add some lubricant? or u know any place i can buy the cheap speedometer cable?

if it works fine i wouldnt worry to much about it, just try lubing it.

You can get a universal speedo core cable that you cut to size on your own from Autozone for $10. I did it and it works fine.
