Tell me, Mr. Anderson, what good is a phone call when you are unable to speak?

Ok, I put it in reverse today took off nice and easy, eased off the gas and went to put my foot back on the gas and the engine just revved and the shifter wasn't in reverse anymore. It didn't make any loud noises or anything, it just popped out.
had that same thing with my 81' civic. It's most likely your transmission or your clutch. I would suspect your clutch because if your abusing your clutch (by abusing I mean shifting without pushing the clutch all the way down before shifting) the teeth would be bent or just plain worn out and wouldn't be able to grab your shifting very well. At one point I had to hold it in fifth (that was my bad gear) and if I took my hand off of it, it would pop out of shift. Anyway...good luck!!!
