From 89 Mx6 to 90 ford probe...same engine

Well, today, I decided I am gonna trade my mx6 in and get a ford probe. Actually my 6 needs about 3000.00 worth of body dmg fixed on it and I have been offered a 90 probe for 500.00 and he is gonna take the tranny off my 6 and put it in the probe.

The probe has same engine as my mazda just needs tranny. Air works, has a refurbished engine in it 44,000 miles and the people who formerly owned it kept up all the oil changes and maintenance on the car.

I hate to part w/ my 6 but I want a car where I won't be embarrassed to drive and won't cost me too much to fix up. The car is red (probe) and I plan to get a new paint job on it. Oh yeah, it has alloy wheels too

PEACE

I think the important question at hand here is: is it a turbo?

UPDATE

Well, I took the Mx-6 to a mechanic and he took it for a drive around the block and came back with a funny look on his face. He says the tranny is good on it...but thats about it...he pulled into his garage and lifted the hood and got back into the mazda and pressed on the gas & I was shocked to see what I saw...when he hit the gas, I thought the engine was gonna pop outta there..lol...it has broken motor mounts and some kind of rattling in the engine....the bodywork alone is gonna be around $3000 plus if I keep it. I was attached to that mazda..but not that attatched...lol...

I agreed to have him put the tranny on the probe (1991 Ford Probe GL) and when he does that, I will have a car that runs good and looks good...just needs a paint job. It has alloy wheels on it and a refurbished engine with about 44,000 miles on it. It was driven by a young man around 18 yrs old who blew the transmission and he sold it to the mechanic b/c he didn't want to get a new transmission. It just so happens that the tranny in my mx-6 will fit and so he's working out a deal for me to have it switched. The probe is red, 4 cylinder, 2 door hatchback and everything works...well...after they put in the tranny Its not a mx6 but its got the engine of one...guess I will settle.

let me get this straight. you are swapping auto tranny for auto tranny ???? usually everyone swaps auto for manual ... why are u doing this? forget your mx6 and its auto tranny . get you a low mile manual tranny from a junky or whatever... also why did you buy this Probe with"refurbished engine" from 18 yr old ?? what exactly they did to this engine ? i bet they changed seals and timing belt/water pump and called it "rebuild engine" .. maybe i'm wrong ... forgive me if so ..but why don't you just buy a mx6 with low miles, nice paint job , and save yourself all this hasle...
