Hmm...are the Type-H ADM and FE-DOHC Transaxle the exact same? I always wondered that.

What were you doing when it went?

Whats that big circular mushy lookin thing at the bottom lol?

So Very Obsessed

Looks like the gearbox has history Frank.

The diff pin has been welded in, so i would expect the gear prob may have been inherited with it...

The box is weaker than the "H" type turbo one....

I would say that its the magnet that catches shavings and such from being pushed around inside the tranny. From the looks of it the differential went first. Once it went, pieces were "tossed" around inside making a big mess. Any other thoughts from anyone?

That is a syncronized drive gear missing teeth with its associated counter gear, looks like it blew up in 1st or 2nd. Does that welded
diff pin help or make it any stronger? I guess so cause the gears blew and not the diff pin!

So you think 1st or 2nd gear just shreaded themselves? Are the spider gears in good shape or are they cracked and in parts?

Power flow should be clutch plate, input shaft gears, sliders/syncros, counter shaft, pinion/ring gear, and then diff spider gears and out the cv axles. Shreaded themselves? No I think he poped the clutch in gear and sheared those teeth off. Are the spiders blown up? dont know ask Dutch to post us a pic.

Not recognizing that the diff pin was welded, I figured something might of sheared off there.

With that in mind, strengthening the gears might be in order. Along with the input shaft, as that was what Jayb took out. Would like to see the spiders, but it seems like those are ok as they are sitting over on the cardboard. Also his case is not "holed" as was seems to happen when the spiders let go.

To do this would require new cut gears, or cryo'ing the current ones. Any ideas?

A cryo of the input shaft should be good unless it is already that way from the factory.

Yeah I think you could cyro those gears for strength. Do the diff pins shear out of the carrier ? and take those spiders out? because maybe an oversized billet diff pin and Phantom grip install could make a pretty stout street tranny?
