umm....it is gaudy, dirty and beat-up....I do like some of his/her ideas with modding tho.
I don't think you understand. So the engine is dirty and the color scheme is a bit extreme. SO WHAT! This is an extensively modifed RACE CAR. Did you look at the kind of mods this car has? Brake bias adjusters, integrated sway bar mounts, and relocated shock towers are professional-grade mods, not something you could ever dream of doing in your garage. I don't think you have a clue as to what this car is and how much time/money has been poured into it. Look past the appearance and you'll see quite a car here.
screw appearance, ive already contacted the guy for some info.
The things that are stopping me from buying it are:
1. Not street legal, would have to be towed around.
2. Never going to pass md inspection
3. I dont have the money
4. There is no way my family will let me have 3 cars.
5. He says the engine will need a rebuild soon.
If it was closer to Texas I might actually think about it. Literally anything can pass inspection down here and even if it couldnt I'd just tow it the autocrosses with my 626.
I'ts a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake, if the way is hazy
You gotta do the cooking by the book, you know you can't be lazy
Why do you guys keep mention emmisons inspections,etc..., Its not a street car, but a racecar for road racing, SCCA.
Very nice, It has tons of stuff done to, I would probably set here make a long list of the stuff i see in the pics, very well worth the price!
What’s cool for me, besides the history of this car (awesome); are the panasports on the car. I have been looking into getting some fabricated for my 6.
This is one of the old Team Highball cars that used to run in the old Escort/Firehawk and BFGoodrich series. Major contenders in their days. The guys at Mazdaspeed Motorsports remember them well(they werent direct sponsors of them back then but they remember the pounding they got from the cars).
Like the one pictured in that BFGoodrich add that someone got off the ebay auction a while ago?
And IROC, that's not SS on the breather lines. They're clear. There is SS on the hoses to the oil cooler, though...
100K? I couold easily see it. Those Strut towers didn't design and fabricate themselves. And that doesn't look like backyard fabrication either. Looks like the car came that way. What does design work like that cost? Ain't cheap if it's done like someone building a racecar would want it to be. This is seen throughout the car (do you know where you could find a race-ready, and I mean real race-ready, coil over system for our cars?).
To the haters: This things our cars frikin heritage and you people are picking it apart like it's some frikin rice mobile.
This is pretty funny. I live about a half hour from there, and I do have the money to buy it right now. But what the hell would I do with it!?!? I really hope someone around here picks it up, because it would make a seriously fun autocross car.

I agree. Don't forget that the car was race prepped in 8?-9? when parts werent readily available, there WAS NO ONLINE, No Ebay, the biggest thing in aftermarket was neon windshield wipers. If I had HALF the money that I spent on my Turbo CRX in '96 I'd could buy 10 used MX6's
haha looks like one of the tie rods has zip ties holding it together. but i looked at it more, looks like they afe just feeding the brake line right with the tie rod, pretty good idea...
I think that car is probably pretty heavy, so what if all of the interior has been stripped. It's been replaced with a metal roll cage and heavy metal componants.
I'd still but it as a track only car though.
Did you guys all notice the tie bar in the back seat instead of a strut tower bar, similar to Adam Turbo's B pillar brace. One of those plus a B pillar brace, the back of that car isnt flexing much at all
Tell me, Mr. Anderson, what good is a phone call when you are unable to speak?

Thanks for all the comments about the car! Some people realize that this is race car only and would be horrendous on the street. The keen eyes have picked up some of the trick custom work done to this car, it's really all about it's history. The best part is freshen the engine and go racing, it was always a very dependable cost effienct car to race.
