Now that I look at the car is seems like its got a limited edition factory color or someone forked over some money to get the engine bay and interior painted?? Is there spots anywhere on the car that have an factory color (white, black, red, silver.....)
nope that blue is definately a factory color, or someone took some time to paint everything. I dont see any other colors on the inside areas. even the bottom of the car is blue.
On the eBay auction, they said that the car was torn apart and motor rebuilt often, that means that the motor was out of the engine bay. It's very easy to paint and entire car inside and out if you have 1) no motor 2) no transmission 3) no interior 4) a lift 5) a shop
"limited edition factory color"
You should do a compression test as well as a tuneup
yeah compression test is one of the 1st things im gonna do when i get the chance, i wonder if autozone rents out the testers. The car is gonna get new plugs wires, filters, etc all this coming week. Im gonna see if swapping the VAF from one of my cars will help the idle, because the current VAF looks like it was taken apart. I need to learn about this idle air control valve thingy , so im gonna be spending a lot of time with the big orange book.
Congratulations on purchasing a part of mx6 history! Pretty cool.
Those parts may be worth quite a bit. If those are new factory GT power steering racks, they're worth like $1000+ a piece! Or are they manual steering racks? Very cool that you got all those extra parts.
I have a feeling they painted the whole car that blue color. You might be able to find some spot where you can see the original color. Or get the paint code from one of the VIN stickers.

i didnt buy it, i wish i did, but i couldnt afford it, my friend got it, but i get to work on it and drive it.
Yeah those are manual sterring racks, but one looks new. The parts are worth more to me and my friend than to anyone else, so i dont think we will sell anything, what is the point in selling if ill prolly just end up buying it again at a higher price.
but yeah, i found a NIB ECU!!!! isnt that crazy???? there are also some sets of rings, and so far i found one new still packaged piston. Evrything is OEM.
and I got one of the books that you have from which you post scans, it is so sweet , i also got the foldout wiring book (everypage folds out).
there is an extra one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but its not complete. He included the portion of it that goes from where the o2 sensor housing would be and then it has a bend and it goes down. The exhaust setup is pretty nice the downpipe is a 2into1 type, and then it has a straight through exhaust till about past where the stock resonator would be, and then it angles down.
yeah i was thinking someone would ask, im gonna have to wait till tommorow for pics on that. but yeah ill try to show good pics of the current setup as well as the extra piece.
there is a pic of the catch can, and its really pretty simple its got both lines running into it and a vent on top. It will overflow if its filled with liquid, but otherwise it just vents the gases and catches the liquid.
also after letting it warm up for a bit, apart from idle the engine runs pretty well. He said that he wasnt using the stock idle air control valve and that i had to compensate with a little throttle. From what I know the IAC is located right next to the tps on the throttlebody. What is on there now looks stock to me, but im gonna swap it with some of the others he gave me, or my own to see if it will improve the idle.
Also he told me that the base fuel pressure should be 40-45 and when we got it it was just under 40, raising it also helped to smooth out the idle (its now at 43), but i havnt looked to see at what point he is reading it from.
