We have gotten the engine out and are in the process of doing a rebuild. But we are taking our sweet time. We have not yet decided if we want to rebuild the engine that was in the car, or the extra one that he gave us.
But the owner of the car doesnt do any work on it himself and its basically up to me to fix it up. So since i have school i barely get much time to work on it. I can barely put in a few hours every weekend.
I have never rebuilt an engine before, so i was thinking maybe i should take it to school with me, I have a lot of mechanical engineering friends with multiple machine shops available to them at the school
Hopefully if i can get them to help me the engine should be rebuild within a month or two.
Basically the engine is the only thing that needs work on this car. everything else is in great shape, the turbo is clean and spins freely and i dont see anything leaking any oil anywhere.
SInce te engine was rebuilt many times , I dont think it needs an entire rebuild. The prevoius owner of the car supplied us with a new set of oem pistons and rings. But i am not in a position to make a decision about this, i need to ask someone who is more knowledgable.
Because you don't autocross. I've been autocrossing for about 10 years and I've heard of this car WAAAY before I've owned my Mx6 I've never seen it in person, but consider it a "MX6" celebrity car. It's WELL known in the SCCA community.
I would like a pretty good pic of the sway bar set up. Keep up the good work and try to keep everyone posted as much as you can about your work. Do school and do it well but get Mazda when you can. Thanks.
