AdamTurbo Chip information FAQ.

Ok in order to get "rid" of the issues with this thread I have converted it to an FAQ. Read the information here first. Anything answered in the FAQ that is asked in the forum will be deleted with out warning. Credit is given to the person who posted the post. Without further ado:

Chip Description:
slam0011999

AdamTurbo ECU chip capabilities
I pasted together some of the posts by AdamTurbo, describing the chip upgrade that he is selling. Hope this helps:

it gets rid of feul cut. it also remaps timing and feul curves for optimum power out of the stock engine. they are 100 canadian or 60 u.s dollers and come with instructions and a socket that must be soldered into the ecu were the stock chip is located, the socket alows you to change chips easily and quickly
these chips will work with 89 octane and up, but i hope you run over 90 octane any way. this chip is ONLY for the 626 , mx6 with the 2.2 liter turbo motor. it will NOT work on v6 or na applications
no it does not accept bigger injectors. it will accept a bigger turbo if you have a control device for bigger injectors . better yet get jay b chip for the 440 injectors. it is set up for the stock motor and getting the most out of it

it will work with a completely stock motor. but unless you have a boost controller you wont be able to raise the boost. with a stock motor and a boost controler you can run 14 psi higher than that you should upgrade to a 91 toyota supra turbo feul pump , its a direct replacement. For you aussies if your ecu has a f220 decal on it it should work fine. the stock chip in the ecu will have a number on it and it is the code that the chip manufacturer uses all of the chips should have the same i.d number. this number is
079753-0793. you need to open up the ecu to see this number. ther is only one chip in the ecu that will have the number on it, it is a sticker on the chip.hope that helps. the socket i supply is a 28 pin e-prom socket

my car at the wheels on a dynojet dyno delivered 198 hp and 278 tourque. that is roughly 220 at the flywheel, and our stock injectors can not take much more power. this was done with the following mods. cone filter, cat back exhaust, 8.5 ignition leads ,silverstone spark plugs greddy bov and a manual boost controller.this set up ran a 14.01 quarter. my new set up with the same chip will produce 220 wheel hp and over 300 tourque. with a estimated e.t of 13.89, i stil have yet to confirm the later figures on the dyno but i will post results wene they are available

Q:
David Figueredo

how good is it over the stock engine
Adam, I was wondering over the stock factory figures, how much does it improve acceleration, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, wheel horsepower, torque, fuel consumption. ¨cause I already have some mods like exhaust, wires ,plugs, and lot´s of things to come, so it looks like I´m gonna be crazy for this little chip, if it does a better job without compromising reliability.Hope you got all that data.I´m getting REALLY interested.

Thanks and keep the good work.

A:
AdamTurbo

well for every aditional psi of boost is aproxemetly 10 hp. and with the chip you can safely run 14-15 psi. with stock boost around 8psi it is a increase if 6 psi wich is aproxemetly 60 hp at the crank.

Q:
mrgtturbo

I know the motor & tranny are the same, but don't know about electrical..... will this chip work in my 89' Probe GT?

A:
Mazda_Speedstar

yes it will. ed note (You need the F220, F292 (there is currently possible issues with this one) , F230, or F231 ECU. Per Woo the Australian ECU F2D7 and F2H3A (i.d.#079700-2111) will not work. Any others are a gamble until I get more ECU tests.)

Q:

So what does it do?

A:
Imagoonmx6:

Installed it. So far it got rid of my flat spot I had in engine response. I also have Jay's Chip. I don't thing my max hp went up but I so far have felt a "clean up" of the torque curve.

~Chris

Also see the first paragraph.

Q:

Compare Jay B's and AdamTurbo's chip.

A:

It (AdamTurbo chip) mostly picked up the torque and hp curve, but I don't think that the max went up. So at the lower RPM the torque picked up a bit and at the high end. Note: I think this has to do with my then current mods. I haven't retried Jay's Chip yet after a few new things and fixes.

~Chris

Q:
Slonman

so over all is it worth the money?

A:
Imagoonmx6

If you don't have one yes. If you have jay's chip and its working great then keep his. So far I like Adam's because it eliminated a flat spot that I had in the lower torque range. Jay told me that his was designed as tweaking of the stock values to make better use of fuel etc. Adam appears to have built a bit more performance into his as in it seems use my mods a a bit better. The only thing I can think of is if Adam increased the VE number a bit so my computer would better use my intake and exhaust, I personally would make more power, but that would flood out a stocker.

Q:

What kind of chip is it?

A:
AdamTurbo:

this is not a stock chip in any way. this chip started off blank, it had the nessasary program to run the car, from there a lap top was pluged in and ALL parameters were worked and reworked untill we got the most out of it. as i have said it was all done on a dynojet dyno. the unfortanate thing is that the original programer guru who was from japan and trained with the techtom programing skills no longer lives in B.C he has moved to california. i am desperatly looking for a program to help understand what all the numbers mean. my friend who is copying the chips now has a eprom reader and burner. with the reader you can put all the parameters on a home computer except we are not clear as to what we are looking at. we can change numbers but dont know what they do. so the missing link to understanding completely is this techtom program that i cant find.

Q:

So how much? Where do I get one?

A:

PM AdamTurbo. He will reply with the amount and terms. Do not post in the Forums.

Q:
spyderwebb04

How many wires do you have to solder and how dificult would you say it is?

A:
Imagoonmx6

Ok guy's, I did this install myself. I don't recommend tring it yourself unless you have tools to do the job. This requires moderate to good soldering skills and can't be done safely with a 15 watt radioshack special soldering iron. I used an ESD safe Soldering station using a vacume desoldeing tool to remove the old EPROM. I then added a socket to the board that allows me to swap chips easily. There are 24 pins that have to be desoldered. Holding the soldering iron on any one of these for more than 3-5 seconds can destroy the EPROM. You can also melt the socket. The ECU board is also and ESD sensitive device. So just holding it with out properly preping yourself can destory it.

Q:
shannonlujan

can any mechanic install one of these puppies? i never soldered in my life...

A:
AdamTurbo

any computer or pc repair facility can install.

Q:

Will this chip work on a non-Turbo?

A:

No.

What do I do to my car?

Exhaust: 2 1/2'' Pacesetter Cat-back ($179) 2 1/2'' HKS Cat back ($479) Maxx Racing 3'' turbo to muffler w/ high flow cat ($760)
Racing Mazda 2 1/2'' turbo to muffler ($599). Hi flo cats are available from www.fwdperformance.com

Intake: Go to ebay. Search for mx-6. There is no cold air for our car. Make your own with dryer ducting from home depot.

Boost Controller: Dawes Device, or go to Ebay. These are universal.

Blow off valve: These are universal. Use 1 3/4'' exhaust piping as a flange, available at any auto parts store, just ask for it. Measure it, cut it with hacksaw, weld on adapter, screw on bov
Don't forget to cap old bypass valve hole.

Computer: Private message AdamTurbo for one, or buy Jay B's computer which can handle bigger 440cc injectors. Both can do different things and are for different apps. Search for details.

Bigger fuel injectors: 440cc injectors from a supra twin turbo will fit

Bigger fuel pump: www.autoperformanceenginneering.com get the 190 for most applications, or put in a 1991 Supra Twin Turbo Pump

Ignition: NGK V-Power plugs and NGK wires. MSD Blaser-2 Coil. MSD 6a ignition if you really want.

These are just some things available for the 6. Buy what you want. If you ever have a question about anything, search for it. When you click on the 1st gen forum, the bottom right corner has a search feature. Use it. Ebay has lots of stuff, look there often. You have to realize the 6 has a lot of potential but not that much aftermarket support, a lot of stuff is custom, cheap, and designed to work not look good.

Just thought I'd set something straight - Being a Supra guy, you should know that the cars with the 440's are Turbo Supras from 1987 to 1992 - They are single turbo, not twin, BTW
