A friend of mine put a couple glass packs on his Jetta. They sound NICE! Also on his BMW and they sound decent.

Glasspacks don't sound good on everything...but the cars they do...it's amazing.

I've never heard one on a turbo 6 yet. I uh....bought one of those fireball style glasspack mufflers from ebay and havn't installed it yet. I wonder what i'm in for. It has to be better than my exhaust ending under the shifter. (After the cat)

Carbon monoxide isn't called the "silent killer" for no reason. Take the shift boot off of your shifter and put your hand there while you're driving. You'll feel the warm air coming into the car while you drive and if thats where your exhaust stops....guess whats coming in.

Good advice. I've wondered about it, but didn't really care at the time. I'm sure I would care if it were killing me...which it's probably doing already.

I've wanted to get it fixed so freaking bad, but I seriously don't have the money!!!!!!!! I need more hours. Or a 2nd job.

A friend of mine has a nice welder, in which we were going to weld my exhaust back up....but since he had limited tools, I couldn't unbolt the exhaust from the car and he didn't want to risk making poor welds. Plus it was 7am and we had just got done pulling the transmission on his 5.0. I don't remember much of that night, except for a bottle of skyy vodka.

Long story short ( ) i'll get it fixed somehow, some way, asap. Though I wouldn't mind losing some weight.

I ate two pizzas last night.

d00d- I guarantee that you've piddled away MORE THAN ENOUGH MONEY to have gotten it fixed long ago. If you want to get it fixed, quit making excuses/stalling and get it fixed.

Carbon Monoxide | Basic Information | Indoor Air Quality | Air | US EPA

The problem with carbon monoxide and people showing up in respiratory distress in the ER is that CO binds in your blood the same way oxygen does. You're probably having the effects of it right now and don't even know it.

What you've done by removing your exhaust from where you've removed it is single handedly the stupidest thing you could have done.

It's not funny.

You sound like I pulled it apart?

It fell off. I stopped and loaded the exhaust in the car and drove it home. It's in the garage.

I make $8.50/hr at UPS and work 4 hours a night. There's no way to get more hours there.

I have two vehicles that are insured and each month I pay out $140.

Gas with the way it is, is rather expensive. My job is 30 miles away. My girlfriend is 100 miles away.

My cell phone's first bill just came in for $65. (Share plan) But this is mostly the activation fee.

I know that poisoning is no laughing matter, but what am I suppost to do here? The other car is broke. I busted a caliper on it the other day and can't even afford to get a junkyard one! My money goes to bills and fuel.

Sorry that i'm not a balla' like you. I'm just wondering how i'm suppost to pay for college this fall.

Why do you think i've been so desperate to sell my parts and rims, etc?

If you care about my well-being so much, quit accusing me of blowing away money / pulling my exhaust off for fun and buy my [shizzle].

Until then, I have to save what little money I make to get it fixed.

health > school >/= $

it's not our fault you don't take good advice. suit yourself man. we're just telling you the truth, and being blunt about it. driving around breathing exhaust isnt a matter of money or not, it's foolish. you can pick up a cheap cat back from a junkyard for under $50. Sure, it's a stock exhaust, but I know my life is more important to me than money. if you really had to you could get crush bent parts and pipe at an auto parts store and whip up a temp side exit for cheap.

or save a bit and i got more than enough 2.5" mandrel bends and straight pipe to do that exhaust.

Okay, that's fine and everything. You're being honest and that's good. I'm glad you care about me so much.

But the problem is that I don't have money to get it welded on. I have the exhaust....

You know...screw it. I'm bringing my tools to my friends' house this weekend and doing it. I'm pulling it off and welding that sumabitch on there.

But rebel...what were you trying to say about me not taking good advice? Are you trying to say that I should not pay my bills to get the exahust put back on? Or what? I don't understand.

Just saying you took it a little personal and defensive when sick said that it's a pretty serious issue.

As I said, you can whip up a side exit for damn cheap if you really had to. Or shop around a bit. I had a whole cat-back made for my MX3 in 2.5" crush bent for $80. That was with no muffler. the muffler can always wait...

When did this exhaust fall off....yesterday? No. It's been that while for quite some time no? Get a girlfriend who will drive to see you, a job that is closer, and will give you more hours if you're going to blame all of that on the reason you have nothing for exhaust past the downpipe.

Exhausts don't FALL OFF, they're TAKEN OFF. There are plenty of hangers underneath that will stop an exhaust from coming off completely. Hell, even a leaking rusty exhaust would be better than what you have now. It has nothing to do with being a "baller" and everything to do with being "SMART".

Get your exhaust fixed.

Yeah, sorry about that. It's just that i'm having a hard time with cash right now and Damian was acting like I pulled it off for fun or something. I was rather pissed when it fell off. I noticed it had some sort of resonator on it, though. Did those come stock?

Seriously though...i'll get it fixed. I'll even post pics when it's done so you can't say that i'm pulling it out of my ass just to get you off my case.

Rebel - I just want you to know that I wasn't laughing at what happened to you. It's sad to think about. I was just cracking a joke at my expense.

Damian - I see you're viewing the thread and hopefuly you had your prescriptions filled. I'm not trying to be some jackass. If I pulled out my pockets right now, dust would fall out. All i'm trying to say is that i'm having a hard time right now, moneywise. I appologize to you guys if I offended you. I tend to just get really defensive, really quick.

I know that you just want to help and i'm sorry. I promise you guys that i'll get it put on. I just need to pull off what's left of the exhaust from the cat and weld the main pipe back on. I had to remove the resonator becuase it was rusted on the ends. So I already welded a pipe on to put in it's place. Other than that, I have to re-weld some hangers and weld on the rice muffler I bought.

WTF are you talking about? Don't start typing lies simply because you're mad that I said it's a stupid idea to take your exhaust off. I've been under these cars plenty of times and there are MORE THAN ENOUGH hangers to keep the entire thing on. You're telling me EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE HANGERS BROKE?

BS.

You took it off. Fix it.

She comes to see me and I come to see her. We switch off. But lately, she's been uber busy. She's moving closer this fall, so that's good.

I love my job to be honest. I work in the international office scanning labels, typing info in the computer and slapping stickers on.

Damian - When I got this car from Ohio and brought it back, I had to swap engines. When I would go to start it, the exhaust would clank really bad. I discovered that the exhaust was laying on the rear suspension. There were no hangers in the back, there wasn't a muffler or anything.

So, I turned onto a highway and with each shift, the exhaust is getting louder and louder. I look at my window to make sure it wasn't falling down or something. It wasn't. Then I heard a loud clank, loud exhaust and dragging metal. I'll take a pic of the resonator that broke off. It was completely rusted through on the end.

The exhaust didn't just fall out...it broke off and fell down. I had to stop and back my rear wheels onto a curb in a parking lot and pull the exhaust out. ( I didn't climb under the car, I was at the side. )

But yeah, my friend has a snap-on welder and all I need to do is unbolt my exhaust so I can weld it back on. I'll take care of that and post a pic of the rice muffler so you can see that I got it on. Oh yeah, and a pic of the resonator.

Whos' the one getting mad? It broke off, deal with it. You're wrong. Deal with it.

*Edit* There is no flex piece, btw. That probably had alot to do with what happened. Like I said - It didn't fall completely out, it broke off and drug the ground. I didn't take it off. The end.

Why are you telling me your life story? You should be gathering parts and getting ready to have your exhaust fixed. I don't care how often you visit your girlfriend or where you bought your car. Driving it in the current condition is stupid and will kill you. Log off and go fix it.
