So I was helping my friend today with his brakes. He happens to own a 1996 Subaru Legacy. Just to let you guys know, they all don't have two piston front calipers. His were only one piston but he also had drum brakes int he back.

If it had drum brakes it was probably only a "Gx" the GTs were the ones with the dual piston fronts.

Found some

thanks to crazyone who put me onto a memeber of the liberty(legacy) forum here in Oz....I picked up a pair of calipers after he did the 4 pot upgrade on his Liberty.

He said they came off a 93 model....and that apparently the 94-99 WRX ones are the same. I dont know whether that applies to all models around the world, but it may be the case in Oz and maybe the JDM...

Apparently it's actually the "L" model.

just got some 96 legacy wagon dual piston calipers today at one of my local u-pull junk yards and they fit directly on my 90 mx6 gt. i tried them on another mx6 there at the yard and you have to get the pins from the legacy for them to work, the brake line bolts right up and the lower 14mm bolt from the mx6 or legacy will work. the slider pin is about 3/4 of an inch longer. $20 for both

the brake lines needed minor work to fit but every thing else worked perfectly! i am sure the slider pins from the mx6 might work but i would rather put the proper ones on my car! i am not gonna take the risk of them being to short so?????

Soooo that still makes you wrong. The mx6/Probe pins work fine. And I never had any problem with the brake lines

my driver side brake line would not thread in so i had to grind a hair bit off the little guides on the calipers for them to start to thread in

So, we're still using our stock or a/m rotors with the Subie calipers? Anyone tried a different setup with a larger rotor and caliper assy? I'm looking for an inexpensive alternative to this weak*ss brake system we've got! Also, any mods to the rear would be helpful.

Yeah there have been some posts about this very subject in the last week or two, there is one based around an upgrade to Honda 300mm rotors, and a couple more using mitsubishi parts and 4 pot calipers....the threads are pretty easy to find.
