Legacy Brakes, anyone know where I can get some

I am wanting to do the Legacy brake upgrade for the 1G, I have read Gavins posts.
However the 1996 legacy GT 2.5L AWD was never sold here in Oz, We got a slightly different model, which I havent been able to find let alone confirm it has the right calipers or not.....I asked a few import places, which turned up nothing also.

Anyone know of a yard or remanufacturing place in the US that would have any ? Tried a few places through ebay, they all have the Std subie one piston types for the NA.

If anyones got a spare set that theyre not going to fit PM me.

I'm currently looking into whether or not the RS liberty turbo calipers are the same as the Legacy items. I have a sneaking suspension that the early (94) Lib and WRX calipers where the same.

The 95 WRX ones are different. MazdaspeedF2 apparently has some Subie calipers in his 626 GT. PM him to find out which ones they are.

I have 95 RS Liberty Turbo calipers on my car currently. Its exactly as gavin describes, you need the subaru calipers but use the stock brake mounting brackets. You can even use the stock brake pads.

Ahh yes I thought they may have been on the RS liberty...but I havent been able to find a wrecked one, let alone anyone who has some off a wrecked one to look at....so its more the unavailability of the wrecks.

But Thats cool, thanks for the info so far I'll keep digging...I have some good photos of what they look like...But it gets to the stage where in Oz, we just have such a small percentage of everything...I floated it out there for everyone in case there is a wrecker in the US that has them.

These days with the global economy and ebay...cross borders are no longer as much of an issue as they once were.

There is a guy in Melbourne who is selling RS front brakes (calipers, rotors and 95% new pads) for 'best offer' If you can't post I can get them for you and forward them on to you if you like. You will only need the calipers.

It will stop you posting in the classified section until you have made a certain number of posts.

I would be interested....But I dont really want to compete with Sabbai, if he wants them too.

CrazyOne, if your a regular member on RSLiberty, maybe it worth making them aware that another avenue for sales of Brake calipers is the MX6 site, and if any of them are members they could post here and get a sale.

Sabbai I sent you the thread link. The guy is in Melbourne.

chief tool there is actually a guy in Sydney (North Shore) who is selling RS Calipers and rotors for $50. According to him they *may* need a reco 'as one side the piston started to stick'. His username is 91rs so you can drop him a PM.

Looks like it could be a win-win for both of you
