EGR block-off

If I remove EGR valve and install a block-off plate, will this trigger a CEL or cause a driveability issue? Im going to MS in a month or 2 any way but the treads in my t3 manifold are destroyed so i was just going to weld the hole shut.

T3/T4 turbo swap, FMIC, custom 2.5" hardpipes, VAF on pressure side, ching chong BOV and 38mm wastegate, 2.5" exhaust...MS on the way!

If you're going MS, no, you won't throw a CEL, because you won't be using the stock ECM/U

As for a plate, why not just leave the EGR in place, just unplug the vacuum line. I blew the diaphragm in mine a few weeks ago and just unplugged the vacuum line and it's fine.

thinking a little more...why not just disconnect the vacuum supply to it? leave the valve in place just siiting there not doing anything?

zlyricist-

to answer, no im not that guy. If anything ill just make one for me, unless you can find 50 other people who want them. theres a guy here locally who made me some head flanges for the f2t and would probly do it. but unless there is demand then i wont bother him...still need to make a manifold...grrr...no time

wont hurt anything, will throw a cel unless you put the block off plate between the egr valve and the intake manifold, leaving everything pluged in and stock.

also without that, the charcoal canister, and the vaccum mess i can remove the alt from the top side and replace it in 20mins if needed. (instead of 2 hours from the bottom.)

out of curiosity what does this do for you? im guessing less mpg but maybe a little better power? idk

also emissions... the egr valve would have to be replaced before getting tested correct

It's more power definitely with better fuel economy

Not sure about the EGR valve. Here in WA, they don't usually look under the hood, and really, the EGR is only used during the cruise emissions, so if you can pass that, than you really don't need one

what this will do for me is make turbo install easier, since ive been doing it every month or so lately. i figure if i make it easier, then ill quit having turbo problems. i guess i havent told anyone that my newly installed t3 ate its bearings so im rolling stock turbo now for a few weeks till i get a new one

as for performance, only a mAdTyTeJaYDEEmm titanium block off plate would net any real power gains

Eliminating the EGR pipe does make it allot easier to remove the turbo and manifold.
2 weeks ago I saw a small leak at the hose clamp at the coolant inlet on the turbo, before tightening the clamp I pried the banjo fitting and hose up a bit to move the clamp away from the impeller housing, but instead the metal hose connected to the banjo fitting cracked, I had to pull the turbo off.
To my surprise it only took 30 minutes to drain some of the coolant, and remove the turbo and manifold from the car.

so in other words it serves no real help or benefit to an N/A car right only to boosted vehicles?

i am not sure what a mAdTyTeJaYDEEmm titanium block off plate is (assuming some kind of joke sorry to tired for understanding jokes)
