Colt Cam
Is the Colt Cam grind worth the money? $225 is the price. The dyno numbers they have on their website were done on a bone stock motor, I called them today. It was a 20hp gain on 11psi. They don't have a dyno for the Tri-flow cam because the dude sold the car, so he tried to get a hold of the other owner and he couldn't. I told him I had higher compression and a bigger turbo and he said the gains are going to be crazy!!! 45-50 hp!! Do you think he is be legit. Should I go for it.

Care to elaborate on this?
P.S. The stock cam does not "suck" as you might assume. It may not have a fancy name like "triflow" and doesn't come with stickers, but it does its job quite well. Try a search on this subject ("SleepCounter", "Corky Bell", "geometry") Everyone seems to think they're an expert at camshaft design, although few are really qualified as such. |

You are right in that none of us are qualified to comment on this really, but I have to say, those 12v cams have about the same duration as a virgin with a super model, ie, not much!
fe3 cams are 240 and 245deg @ 050 f2t appear to be around the 200 mark give or take 25 (rocker ratio) @ 050 That simply HAS to affect breathing. Any time a modern DOHC user goes from oem 240 to aftermarket 260 breathing and spool improve at all rpms. I can't imagine it would screw up low end flow significantly with such minimal overlap. Explain that! I'm keen to learn :-) |
