Going "all Motor" on a f2

So i just got some IRTB from a friend's bike, universal actually. Wondering when can i get a performance cam and cam gear for the f2. And how can i connect the IRTB to the engine? plus i will bore cylinders with a new set of pistons rings.

Any websites on performance parts for the 1 gen???

Thanks alot!

P.S.: give me a help here please since the 1gen 2.2 f2 been "my project dream" for years...

its pretty much all gonna have to be custom, but colt cams makes a regrind cam for our car and there have been a few threads recently about trying to make an adjustable cam gear. there's not really much of an aftermarket for these cars but there is a lot that can be modified to work from other cars and a lot that can be done. feel free to search around the site and learn some things while your here.

p.s. you might want to look into megasquirt, since the factory ecu probably will not handle itb's well.

I've said this before, adamturbo still makes an adjustable cam gear for the f2. I cannot recall his email, however. Nice to see some one else going the ITB route.

good luck with that......but i hope you realize that it'll take probably big cheese to keep up with even a stock f2t setup

I know this might be crazy, but what if the point is not to keep up with a stock f2t...or FE-DOHC...or this engine...or that engine? But instead to find the full limits and capabilities of the F2? Crazy notion isnt it?

Red2.2...Not much has been done to forward the knowledge of the F2 for at least 8? years now. You might want to a some reading, actually a LOT of reading. Sounds like you have a set of ITBs and plan to build a motor around it without knowing much about what it takes to fit them onto a motor. You will also need to do some research on the F2 in question and for that matter, what an "all motor" build would consist of.

Good luck

Gavin

Thx for the help mates! Gavin i know there isn't many f2 outside, but i saw a good deal for an lx for $800. And yeah i know all motor means modify everything, specially if i'm going for ITBs.

I did some research and yeah it's pretty hard to find performance parts for the f2, only very little things were made, like cams, gears, etc.

If future goes the other way and i don't buy the mx6 i might sell the ITBs or keep 'em for another project, which i will post here hehe. But it's hard for me to let a 1 gen. mx6 go just like that, i'll do my best

High revving, high compression, and ITB's are my idea of an "all motor" build.

High Compression Pistons
High flow intake w/ITB's
High flow cam
Larger valves
Full exhaust
COP Spark
NOS (Fredio was on the money here)
220 HP and alot of fun to drive, Priceless.
High reving engine 7-9k, de-stroked F2 could do it.

Lungren thanks for the hints, any close price on all of those, forget about sparks and exhaust, i can get that for real cheap but what about the rest? I looked into ebay and some other places but the only internals i could find were oem, nothing for racing.

I don't want to take the engine to its limit tho, high revving and stuff is cool but not to the point it will break once in a while, you guys know..something quicker than stock from 0-80 mph but nothing to hit 0-60 in 4 secs. lol

High Compression Pistons =$500 12:6.1 or higher
High flow intake w/ITB's = $600 +/- depending on what you aready have
High flow cam = $200 +/- going to need to be a custom regrind, Crower, Comp Cams, Colt Cams, ext....
Larger valves = $150 this needs to be figured by a head shop.
Full exhaust =$200 mabe less if you have connections
COP Spark
NOS (Fredio was on the money here) = $350 dirrect port injected wet kit
High reving engine 7-9k, de-stroked F2 could do it= $400 for new crank shaft and rods + corresponding bearings
$2500-$3000 for all but might be done for cheaper. Also more than 220 is possible with a good build and poper nitrous setup mabe 300 hp
220 HP and alot of fun to drive, Priceless.
