Hks Turbo Timer?

hey, i searched probetalk and mx6 for my answers but i couldnt draw any conclusions. anyways, i hooked up my HKS Type 1 Turbo Timer to the ignition and set bought the ZT-1 Harness too. well first of all the timer wont even stay on when i shut off the car. second it only gives me voltage readings. the directions for it suck and i tried every which way to understand the wiring but i cant :-( can someone enlighten me. also do i have to hook anything up to the ECU? thanx alot.

P.S.
it's a 91 PGT

You're supposed to hook it up to the parking brake so it will turn on when you turn the ignition off.

You dont have to touch the ECU at all, its all in the ignition wires in the steering collumn.

did you hook the ground up??

me and my dad had this problem, but i forgot how we solved it.

is the E-brake up when you turn off the car. its got to be up for the Turbo Timer to arm, dont put it down untill the timer has shut off the car also. if you put it down the car will shut off. this prevents theft.

to get to the options, push the little M button at the top left corner. since you said that its on the voltage meter it will turn off, then push it again then it will tell you how much time its set for. use the right buttons to adjust it, i think the top right one is for increasing the time and the bottom for..........

did you hook up the rpm wire, i didnt hook mine up so no matter what it counts down for the time that i set it for. that could be it, if your not driving the car i dont think it needs to count down.

you know what i mean, you just installed it and you want to test it. so you start it for 3secs and expect the car to count down?
see where im going??

Anyone want a NICE 1G? :-/

yea...

im sure the EBRAKE was up and i can set it to the different options it's none of the othe options show any readings. the only one that is active is the VOLTAGE. also, i drove my car about 5-6miles to my gf's house and then i turned the car off and everything shut off too. i was like **** still didnt work....i dunno what the hell is wrong with it.

I dont see what the problem is, just go back and check all your connections even the harness, and the E-Brake connection.

make sure that you have a good ground also.

does it beep when you plug in the harness even with the car off and ground connected? even though you have the harness, it may be possible that you don't have a 12v constant source to it, it may be running off the acces 12v when the key is on, hence when you turn the key off the timer shuts off no matter what.

I agree with him. I don't know too much about the installation of Turbo timers, but what he says makes sense. You need it hooked up to a constant power source, just like the one that holds the memory for the clock or the one that runs to your deck, to keep the current time as well!! I say you give that a try and keep us posted on what happens!

does the Mx-6 have a speed sensor located at the wheels? If so, how do you tap into it?
