Couple things...just from a couple things I see, Im pretty sure this is a different car than that of the other listings. Granted, the changes could have been made over the years, but there are a couple of these cars floating around out there.
That some person decided to buy a racecar without knowing what it is worth and then sells it for $2k doesnt meant that that is what the car is worth...it just means that guy is clueless and someone else was holding back the giggles as he got a smoking deal
(by the way, this isnt always the best thing...remember my mention of the "white elephant"?....getting a "cheap" racecar is like getting a "cheap" ferrari......with $4000 oil changes. The maintenance costs can bury you)
Ryan....have you looked at the build sheets of the cars? You have to know that even at 10% of the original cost of the parts that you are going to have a LOT of money invested into this car. 15yrs down the road, what would you sell a world challenge Mazda6 for?...cuz thats what you effectively have in the build of this car. Comparing prices to a 91 1.6l (much less a 99 1.8l) Spec-Miata isnt a reasonable comparison at all.
...oh, it looks like its finally got a reasonable and competitive class to compete in again. Super touring was a class created to give a place for ex-world challenge cars (and builds of this type) that were otherwise buried in ITE. When you have a car to sell that has a real class, real competition, with cars of like build and performance parameters to fit into....its value increases.
$12,500 is correct for what the car is worth.
