For hunting, go compound with at least 80 pounds behind it.
They are more accurate and powerfull and thus result in less trauma to the animal.
I have seen a through-and through arrow on a Buffalo! From around 30-40ft.
Just do a [shizzle]load of practice before going out on the hunt and always practice with the arrows you intend hunting with. A broadhead flies very different to a target arrow due to projectories and weights etc.
The Hoyt brand is a good name to go with.
